By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

Poured lighter than I would have expected. Hazy macro color. On the virge of a white. Nice white head that died down but provided nice lacing. Centennial hops in the aroma. Sort of thin watery mouthfeel with plenty of hop flavor and bitterness. I agree with other people that I probably like this more than Ruination.

Bottle 12 oz. Pint Glass. Rich Amber color. Beautiful hop aroma of citrus/grapefruit and pine. Strong and bitter hop taste is apparent but the slightly sweet malts balances it out perfectly. Very well rounded for an american hoppy IPA. I love this beer.

On tap - Gingerman, Collins, Copperfields, others. NYC perfectly proportioned IPA. Im not sure, but I think I like this more than their imperial (ruiniation). Perfeclty balanced, nice coppe/orange/amber color, beutiful head. Nice citrus overtones followed by nice malt flavors to balance it out. Love it.

The 22 ounce bottle poured a slightly hazy orange-amber beverage with a full creamy off-white head that was fully lasting and left great lacing on the glass. The aroma presented a huge hop profile with orange peel, grapefruit, and a light herb character. The body was full with a soft carbonation and a smooth creamy texture. The flavor starts off lightly sweet and maintains that sweetness throughout the long finish. The flavors of orange and pineapple are subtle but detectable in the background.

Dark orange in color with small head. Great sweet aroma and fruity hop filled flavor. Lots of hops but not too bitter.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2007 Bottled and tap @ the Brewery. Smells hoppy and lemon grassy. Apearance is of a rich apple cider or juice. Tastes grassy, and of grapefruit. Lasting hop flavor.

Stone brewery has impressed me yet again. It pours a dark amber color with a thin white head. This is a great value for such a good IPA.

Pours a healthy and hazy golden amber with an inch or more of rocky white foam. Great head retention, wonderful stick-to-the-glass lacing throughout. Good citrus and floral hop aroma with notes of blue spruce. Quite hoppy up front with bitter dry citrus and fresh juicy citrus at the same time. A bready caramel malt is found well behind the hops, with just a touch of licorice in the finish. The malt is somewhat similar to Arrogant Bastard, though well subdued. A bitter grapefruit hop resin lingers well into the aftertaste. Medium bodied, fully carbonated.

Poured from a bottle, working on a cold so might have to re-rate some day. For a orangish amber color beer this one looks pretty darn good. Now I am starting to understand why people like Stone so much. Head was a creamy white that actually held its head well. Again with the cold, I smelled a sweet fruity almost peppery aroma. Flavor had a small bite to it that was enjoyable. Overall a good one from Stone.

A worthwhile ale. Much better balanced than the ruination. If memory serves me right, its rather bold, but not over the top. Bitter, pleasant sipper.
