By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

1.9pt bottle, $4.49. Aroma is pure catnip!! Heavy pine resin, flower, and citrus hopps dominate the aroma. I’d love to put this in front of a cat and see what would happen. Average sized frothy/foamy off-white head that left excellent lacing and mostly diminished. Very nice amber body. Flavor starts lightly sweet and bitter and ends moderately bitter. Finish is average. Palate is medium bodied and flat. This is a beer for hop heads (like me!!) and really shows off the extreme of the style. Crispy bitters for sure.

22 oz bottle. Hazy golden with a thick lasting off white head and sticky lace.

Aroma is citrus and floral hops with a good dose of caramel.

Flavor is piney grapefruity hops, balanced with some nice caramel sweetness.
Finish is long and mildly bitter.

Hoppy aroma, hoppy taste! This beer shows well, follows up great, and finishes perfect Stone is new to New Jersey, so I am just discovering this - this one was a big surprise. The ratio of hops in the flavor is perfect. Too many brews try to get hoppy and get a little silly, not these guys. Don’t get me wrong, the hops are strong, but it’s perfect. In my mind, this is the best tasting beer today. (Sorry Sierra Nevada)

grandet (501) - Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 11, 2007
22oz bottle. Poured nice golden color with good carbonation and a nice white head. Smelled of hops with more hops. Tasted even better. Def a beer to def all the time.

Rated 1/28/06: Got a 22 ounce bottle from my favorite store and let it chill for a week. Opened it and poured my first glass. Beautiful dark golden/light amber color with good carbonation and a very nice looking head. Took a big ol’ wiff and HOPS!, HOPS!, HOPS!....the hop aromas were jumping out of the glass, so I took a taste and MORE HOPS. Good character for this beer, Stone has a knack of brewing their beers to the maximum potential of the relative styles they make and this IPA delivers. Fresh tasting ale with complex hop flavors that seem to kick you at first but soon come together into one damn good beer.

I looked up hops and there was no picture of Stone IPA :(. Hazy dark yellow, big white head. Aroma is different, floral and citrus, with a touch of cheese. The cheese isn’t a major thing, but just a minor flaw I noticed. Overall its an invited aroma. The first sip reveals a somewhat thin, bitter beer. I’m not loving the aftertaste. I’m prefer some more malt in a beer this big. I’m going to have to disagree with the majority here, I think this is a pretty week showing from a great brewery. I find AB, Old guardian, and ruination far more interesting.

Piney resin and citrus aroma. Pours blonde. Great hop character, pine and citrus like the aroma, with a good malt backbone.

One of the better IPA’s out there. Golden color with minimal head. Lots of hops and pine in the aroma and taste.
