By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

Slightlly hazy orange/gold color with a light white head. As you would expect a nice hops aroma jumps out at you with an undertone of malt. The first sip and a slightly sweet malt flavor eases on you before the bitter reaches out there for you. As you sip it on down through the glass a what I consider to be a nice light carbonation rolls across the tongue. This beer is really close to being great as I sip it I wonder what I would improve. I really dont know?

Lots of citrusy, pine hops - brilliant. Dark golden colour, white head which doesnt last. Very little carbonation. OK, so it only looks average. A nice initial malt sweetness quickly gives way to a powerful, yet not overwhelming hops taste. Really good. The body is medium. The hops taste initially fades rather fast, but then returns in style with a long-lasting, powerful aftertaste of hops. Overall a superbly balanced American IPA - probably one of the best IPAs I have ever tasted.

Amber/orange color. Smell of grapefriut, orange and spicy hops. What can I say about this IPA? Very smooth all around. Taste of citrus, nice hops and a wonderful amount of bitterness at the end. I wish I could drink this all the time. Not that shabby. Must have this beer in Milwaukee for sale.

Great IPA. Great finish. Very well balanced malt/hop ratio for an IPA. nice amber color, citrus aroma. The Ruination is more of a favorite of mine.

Very pleased with my first beer from Stone. Pours to a golden orange, with thick off-white head that lingers and excellent lacing. Hoppy aroma of citrus fruits.... grapefruit, lemons and oranges. Flavor of hops and fruits, and excellent finish, which actuaally included a warming sensation from the alcohol. I was expecting a lot from this IPA, and was not disappointed at all.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with an ample white head. Aroma is citrus/floral. Hoppy and citrus/floral taste that mellows to a warm wheat glow. If there was a classic, definitive IPA beer, this would be it.

The only beer Ive ever given a 10 for aroma. Excellent hoppy boquet that masks a bit of the bitterness in the finish. Not an everyday drinking beer for me but great nonetheless.

Draft @ Falling Rock: Gold amber pour with a small, creamy head. Fantastic aroma is hop heavy - flowery perfume and orange citrus prevail over a slight caramel note. The body is peachy and drinkable, noting honey and toffee malts with an apple fruitiness. The finish is overly bitter and almost acidic. This really detracts from the creamy, malt backbone and puts an abrupt finish to this great drinking IPA. Still great though and went quite well with the Smoked Applewood BLT w/ garlic and herb mayo.

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2006 Aroma: Very attractive hop aroma. Rsinous, slightly citrusy. Appearance: Good initial head, but dissipated quickly. Small amount of lace. Beautiful burnished gold color. Flavor: Slight grapefruit. Medium-High hop bitterness. Underlying malt sweetness which continues into the aftertaste. Palate: Medium bodied. Nice hoppiness on center and back of tongue, and roof of mouth. Lingering aftertaste. Overall: A superb example of the style. Very hoppy, but not overwhelmingly so. A nice balance of hop flavor, malt sweetness, and hop bitterness.
