By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2008 The finest IPA available.Crisp fruity and clean with mild bite.A hint of pine on the finish super drinkable. My staple beer. There is not much more to say then asking you this question. Why are you still reading this review? Go get some Stone IPA. The Gold Standard of Indias. Light fruity and very refreshing.

Bomber. Pours clear orange with a fluffy white head. Aroma of pine and grapefruit, nicely balanced. Flavor is hoppy but light. Palate just a tad watery. Highly drinkable, a standard against which all other IPAs are judged.

Draught. Clear yellow-orange color with porous white head that laced the glass. Sprucy hop nose and flavor with some grapefruit undertones. There is moderate hop bitterness up front that wanes fairly quickly.

Pours a cloudy, light amber/yellow color with a medium slightly off white head. Aroma is of hops and citrus, mostly grapefruit. Flavor is of grapefruits a finish of hops. My first Stone brew, and a very good one at that.

Bomber. Pours crystal clear gold with a big white head. Dense lacing throughout. Floral, citrus nose with a touch of candylike sweetness. Flavor is less bitter than I expected. Grapefruit peel and a touch of lemon zest. More like an east coast style IPA, not hopped through the roof. As usual, a solid from Stone.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2007 i was expecting better. probably could have been more hoppy. the flavor just seemed lacking. it seems like it would go really well with food. hides the alcohol well. i guess i had unfairly high expectations for it because it isnt very accessible for me.

I felt that this IPA was not as hoppy as it should have been. It has great apperarance once it is poured into the glass. It tastes a little to fruity and lite for me. It is a good beer but I think it tastes to much like Blue Moon and not enough like a bitter hoppy IPA should.

The hazy peach to orange color is very clear through filtration I guess. Fabulous head retention. The nose is big and complex: lots of pine, complimented by orange sherbet, caramel malts, and pepper. It starts out with assertive grapefruity hops, but as this warms up floral and hops come through alone with silky smooth sweet malts. The alcohol is slightly noticeable, but it doesnt interfere with the drinkability. This is pretty awesome.

Bottled. This beer pours a nice copper color and has a very bitter hoppy taste with a dry finish. The aroma is that of hops with strikes me as a somewhat fruity hint. I cant admit to being a fan of really hoppy dry beers and this one certainly didnt change my mind.

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2006 Rerate, 22 oz bomber - For my first rating of Stone IPA, I was going from a small sample and hadnt really developed the taste I have now for very hoppy beers. This time I had a whole bomber to myself, the perfect way to enjoy a Stone brew. Stone IPA pours dark, hazy gold color with a two finger head that laces the glass nicely. The citrus hop aroma is assertive and oh so good. Obviously high quality hops lead the way in the flavor, backed up by some citrus and well balanced maltiness. The light carbonation and medium body is just about right, and the finish stays with you for a long time. Youll be glad it stays though. This ale is an excellent example of the style.
