By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

(Bottle via trade with IrishBoy, thanks Richard!) Hazy amberish yellow body with a rather frothy white head. Aroma pretty strongly hoppy - alternating between piney and fruity. Some webby, foamy lacing. Mouthfeel very soft, smooth, a touch prickly. Quite a bit of bitterness overlays a fruity hop flavor, finishing with more of the pine. Interesting counterblance between fruitiness and bitterness. Finishes quite bitter which lingers into the aftertaste.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2007 I’ve had it bottle and tap. Pours a light golden amber, with good creamy head. Aroma of orange, citrus, spice, and caramel. Nice citrusy orange flavor with hoppy bitterness, and caramel malt. Juicy hops in the finish. A nice beer.

The perfect American IPA. Beats one of my favorites, too-- draught Harpoon IPA (which is near and dear to my heart, being from Boston). Body is just right-- not too light, but heavy enough to carry the malt and hops. Color is probably a little too light for an IPA, but that’s a minor complaint. Bitterness cleanses the palate without being overwhelming. Outstanding brew. Highly recommended. I would love to try this on tap some day.

Sweet,, juicy citrus aroma, passionefruit. Gold shining amber with whitish small tight head. Bitter metallic oranges. Tinny, mostly fine hopspice.

bottle - By far one of the best IPA’s around. Fresh, fruity hops aroma that you nose doesn’t even need to get near to appreciate. Full beige head over a light golden liquid. Taste has a sweetness in an undertone, but is mostly hops and more hops. Finish is clean with the bitterness one hopes for in a good IPA.

decaturstevo (6343) - decatur, Tennessee, USA - JUN 14, 2006
Slightlly hazy orange/gold color with a light white head. As you would expect a nice hops aroma jumps out at you with an undertone of malt. The first sip and a slightly sweet malt flavor eases on you before the bitter reaches out there for you. As you sip it on down through the glass a what I consider to be a nice light carbonation rolls across the tongue. This beer is really close to being great as I sip it I wonder what I would improve. I really don’t know?

Lots of citrusy, pine hops - brilliant. Dark golden colour, white head which doesn’t last. Very little carbonation. OK, so it only looks average. A nice initial malt sweetness quickly gives way to a powerful, yet not overwhelming hops taste. Really good. The body is medium. The hops taste initially fades rather fast, but then returns in style with a long-lasting, powerful aftertaste of hops. Overall a superbly balanced American IPA - probably one of the best IPA’s I have ever tasted.

KingpinIPA (841) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 13, 2006
Amber/orange color. Smell of grapefriut, orange and spicy hops. What can I say about this IPA? Very smooth all around. Taste of citrus, nice hops and a wonderful amount of bitterness at the end. I wish I could drink this all the time. Not that shabby. Must have this beer in Milwaukee for sale.

unclemattie (4406) - Georgia, USA - JUN 12, 2006
Great IPA. Great finish. Very well balanced malt/hop ratio for an IPA. nice amber color, citrus aroma. The Ruination is more of a favorite of mine.
