By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

Phenomenal stuff from Stone. Pours that golden amber youre looking for in an IPA but lacks some of the sediment and cloudiness. However, aroma and flavor more than make up for it. Huge hits of lemon citrus and bitter pine assault the nostrils while your tastebuds are just trying to hold on for the ride. Perfect smooth, clovery bitter-hop finish. Amongst the top of the class in IPA.

This is my goto sessions IPA beer. Stone has truely got a great IPA. Almost the epitomy of a west coast IPA. Nothing that well jump out and scream HOPS! but enuff there not to over power you and let you enjoy the other flavors that are going on with this beer

SD Trip, sampler: Hmmm, maybe Im getting the pales mixed up, that can happen. This is a hoppy, but not overly so, IPA. The best IPA out there, as the community score would suggest, Id say no, but its drinkable and not offensive so it has mass appeal over some (better) IPAs and DIPAs (Hercules). Again, may have been muted by the Sublimely I was also drinking.

Bomber. Pours clear orange with a fluffy white head. Aroma of pine and grapefruit, nicely balanced. Flavor is hoppy but light. Palate just a tad watery. Highly drinkable, a standard against which all other IPAs are judged.

12 oz bottle Aroma of pine and hops and IPA goodness. Poured a clear deep golden color with a small white head that didnt linger. The flavor and palate were sort of a junior version of big brother Ruination. A superior IPA.

Bottle. Poured yellow with white head that disipated quickly. Nice hops aroma and taste. not a particularly full bodied taste.

Beautiful golden/orange beer with very nice frothy off white head. Floral/citrus hop aroma. Lacing on the glass before I even take a drink! The hops dont overwhelm you like the "Arrogant Bastard" by Stone. It is very balanced and a great drink with a yeasty backbone. Nice bitter finish, but not too bitter. Very "crisp" as advertised. The more I drink, the more I notice a soapy taste and finish.

Very nice clear gold colour with a large, foamy and lasting head. Pine, resin, citrus and full malty aromas. Medium malty sweetness and high bitterness. Very well balanced. Long, tart grapefruit finish. This is a great IPA but quite tame and lacking definition by todays standards. The competition has increased plenty since 1997.

Poured from a bottle, working on a cold so might have to re-rate some day. For a orangish amber color beer this one looks pretty darn good. Now I am starting to understand why people like Stone so much. Head was a creamy white that actually held its head well. Again with the cold, I smelled a sweet fruity almost peppery aroma. Flavor had a small bite to it that was enjoyable. Overall a good one from Stone.
