This is a perfectly carbonated pale golden gem of a beer. The vanilla colored head is gorgeous, fluffy, and perfectly foamy. As the head slowly dissipates it leaves and abundance of thick, intricate lacing. This beer looks good! Aroma is strong and hoppy. This isn’t a sensitive beer; it’s a full frontal assault on the senses. Aroma is loaded with big bursts of hops, grapefruit, pine, and sharp notes of alcohol. Flavor starts off sweet with malt, cherry, and berry flavors. Soon pine nut, tobacco, grapefruit, and sharp hops flavors take over. The beer finishes with a mouth filling burst of bitter hops followed by an alcohol KO. Overall, this is one of the finest beers that I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting. I can’t get it locally but if I could then I’d keep it on hand at all times. googleimage83 (172) - Ontario, CANADA - SEP 30, 2016
UPDATED: FEB 9, 2017 Pours translucent gold, honey-like colour, small persistent head and nice lacing. Very bright in appearance and aroma - pine, citrus and malt nose is exactly what you want in an IPA. Taste is near-perfectly balanced - orange, grapefruit, resiny hops, noticeable malt profile with toast and caramel... lingering bitter finish of citrus pith. Hits that sweet spot between intensely bitter yet fruitily refreshing.
Edit: original rating of 9/4/9/5/19 was perhaps a smidge too high - I wouldn’t go so far as to say this is "special treat" category - but this is still an excellent brew and among the best widely-available IPAs. Loddeer (171) - USA - OCT 10, 2004
Let me start by saying my expectations are sky-high, and that I love great IPA’s, I will continue my review following the dots ... mmm mmm Good! Yeah this is definitely an excellent IPA, the initial flavoring is strong and distinct. The after-taste is unusually subtle yet powerful. It really does an excellent job of masking the underlying power and presents itself as a hoppy giant. Completely enjoyable and a superb brew. Usko (171) - Bavaria, GERMANY - OCT 5, 2013
Citrusy, hoppy and grassy in aroma and taste. Nothing more to say. A great IPA, all about the hops.

With such high ratings, I thought I would be more impressed by this beer. It’s a great IPA, well balanced flavor and a pleasant bitterness.

Golden nicely carbonated with a white head and generous lacing. Citrus and floral nose. Lemongrass and piney hop notes among the flavors. Crisp, clean dry hoppy finish. Very nice. raiderfost (171) - virginia beach, Virginia, USA - OCT 25, 2007

Ipa bastante herbal(pino), con final amargo muy seco y de durabilidad media, no esta entre mis preferencias, de complejidad media. Keil (171) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 26, 2011
Pours a beautiful light gold, nice fluffy head. Aroma is cat pee, pine, citrus, grapefruit. Flavor is clean hops. Nice citrus and pine hop flavors, juicy grapefruit hop finish. Just enough malt to know its there but its in the backseat. Clean yeast finish. Great IPA.
