This is a wonderful example of an american IPA. great strong hop flavor but perfectly balanced with the maltyness. very easy to drink, great beer, ruination is even better! Likerighteous (120) - Pflugerville, Texas, USA - NOV 2, 2005
Gargoyles are cool. Hopped to near perfection. Beautiful amber coloring with huge creamy head. And best of all---behind the obligatory hops galore is a remarkable beer. A mouthful of malty cream that finishes with a distinct bitter edge. IPAndy (120) - minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 24, 2006
Everything great in an IPA, this one has. My one complaint would be that the hop profile isn’t as complex as some other (newer) IPA’s, in that it is really all about the grapefruit with this one, whereas some styles present sweeter fruits (mango, peach) as well. Extra point overall for reasonable ABV for a session beer, minus point overall for relative expense. tommy8768 (120) - Litlle Compton, Rhode Island, USA - NOV 1, 2006
Nice golden-orange with a good sized head. Very hoppy aroma.Tastes of citrus, pine, and a little sweetness. One of the best IPAs ever. PWheatley (119) - , Quebec, CANADA - NOV 7, 2009

Really good but expected a little more with the hype, expected it to be a little bolder, prefer SKA

Very balanced between malt and hop. Crystal clear. Gold. Pine and grapefruit. Mostly Pine, blended with citrus to a lighter degree, light caramel, biscuit. Bitterness blended perfectly with the sweetness. Big rocky off white head, nice lacing. Light creaminess, med body, dry finish. portermax55 (118) - Canterbury, Connecticut, USA - OCT 12, 2007
12 oz. bottle into pint. Pours a bright orange color with a long-lasting white head. Strong smell of hops and tropical fruits. Tastes of heaven! A near perfect balance of bitterness with touch of sweetness to finish. Very light and smooth mouthfeel for being an IPA. Call me crazy, but I perfer this to the Ruination IPA. Will purchase much more in the near future.
