By definition, an India Pale Ale is hoppier and higher in alcohol than its little brother, pale ale-and we deliver in spades. Now one of the most well respected and best-selling IPAs in the country, this golden beauty explodes with citrusy flavor and hop aromas, all perfectly balanced by a subtle malt character. This crisp, extra hoppy brew is hugely refreshing on a hot day, but will always deliver no matter when you choose to drink it.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2009 Re-rate: Stone IPA is good, but ODells (Boulder CO) is better. Stone: Hoppy, yes. Balanced, no. A little thin across the middle of the palate, and overly astringent. Love the hops, but needs some beef as well.

Clear bright amber, with a small offwhite head that dissipates before long. Big blast of hop aroma - green herbs with sweet spice. A little fruit is there in the background too. On the palate, the hops hit right away, with pine, herbs, and grass. Carbonation is a little coarse, but mouthfeel is rich. Malt contributes body but not overt sweetness...I like that quality a lot. Delivers most of the character of the Ruination IPA for a lower price point. In fact, I prefer the balance of this brew to the Ruination. A must for fans of grassy hops.

Light copper appearance with a medium head. The taste is of grapefruit with medium bitterness for an IPA. Also has a higher malty flavor. One of the better IPA beers.

Not a huge fan of the style; but if I had to choose one, this would be in my top 5 (along with Lagunitas, Russian River, Victory, and Ninkasi). Pours nicely from 12 oz bottle with golden body, citrus aromas, and pillowy head. As advertised, the beer is aggressively hopped to deliver ample citrus notes and tangy a flavor profile. The genius is that Stones version is not overwhelmingly bitter as many unsophisticated IPAs tend to be.

Pours a clear golden/dark orange with a soft looking finger of white head. Aroma of very fresh hops, strong lemon and grapefruit, bursts out of the glass. Taste follows through with more the same, bitterness is sharp but dissipates fairly into softer grapefruit, increasing the drinkability. Fresh and clean on the back palate, tingly bitterness lingers on. Hell of an IPA, these guys know what theyre about and this beer nails it.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2014 Grapefruit and resin in the aroma. The pine and resin come through in the taste, with the bitter grapefruit bringing up in the rear. The perfect amount of malt balance. Just a fantastic IPA.

Fantastic. Dry-hopping gives incredibly fresh, floral/citrus aroma, one of the more pleasant IPA aromas around. Light malt foundation could be be slightly richer for my taste, but that is a very small qualm. Hop bitterness, flavor and aroma are all outstanding. Extremely clean character - killer IPA.

Just imagine biting into a giant bitter grapefruit... add some water to make it smooth.. and then some alcohol. Thats how it kinda taste like lol... its really good, but the bitter taste it has reminds me of grapefruits. It has a really stront taste that has presence. The first sip just make my intire mouth tingle in excitement. The store i went to had this marked as rate beers top 99 which i thought was real cool. Everyone needs to try thing one.

Golden straw color, nice appearence. Nice hoppy aroma. One of the better IPAs out on the market. With out a doubt would recommend.
