22oz bottled poured a rich copper color w/ a mountainous off-white head. Aggressive hop aroma with a slight nuttiness. The flavor was wonderful! Nice bitter flavor with notes of citrus and pine. Very crisp and refreshing aftertaste. Hoppier than your average IPA, highly recommended. sigh_borg (97) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 25, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 17, 2011 12 oz bottle. Pours hazy dark orange, small head, with a bit of lacing. Aroma of citrus, fresh fruit, hops, grass. Taste is also citrusy and intensely hoppy. Aroma and flavor both very fresh. Finish is bitter (almost a bit too bitter for me), but expected for a beer with 70+ IBUs.
This is the beer that turned me on to IPAs. Love it. DANEgerous (96) - Texas, USA - AUG 24, 2012
Aroma: gorgeous note of grain an hops, the closest thing you will you get to walking through fields of the stuff.
Appearance: Bright Amber whit head
Taste: Massive hops that slowly mellow out in to the very definition of an IPA, bitter and floral with a more sweet finish
Palate: Substantial in all regards, a nice long finish
Overall: Do you like beer? Yes? Have you found this one? Yes? Why are you not buying it? phikus (96) - syracuse, New York, USA - OCT 27, 2014
UPDATED: JAN 29, 2015 The floral citrus bouquet in the aroma of this beer is laced with a touch of honey maltiness then the flavor takes over with pine and mango hoppiness balancing a biscuit maltiness. Well balanced finish. Dimitri8 (95) - Pabianice, POLAND - APR 14, 2017
Fresh fruity aroma. Really dry with masive biterness. Very good west coast ipa!

What a terrific IPA! Out of a 12oz bottle, the hoppy aroma hits you instantaneously. The taste is very citrusy and extremely hoppy. The hops slam the back of your throat but in a very very good way. I really love this beer. bierchik (95) - lakewood, California, USA - JUL 26, 2004

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2010 Bottle: Pours golden/light amber with medium size, long lasting white head with decent lacing. Aroma of piney grapefruity hoppy goodness. Medium body, well balanced bitterness. Very drinkable. 45thstbrewer (94) - Conowingo, Maryland, USA - APR 24, 2008
Stone’s India Pale is excellent. Definitely one of my favorites. If you’re feeling brave enough try Ruination linkolnlogg (94) - your home, Minnesota, USA - NOV 7, 2006
Bottle to shaker (pounder). Pours out a pale gold colour with a light creamy white head with nice lacing. Scent is light earth and sweet floral hops. The hop is abruptly agressive and then quickly subsides to mild sweet hops. Taste is as above- abruptly aggressive hop elements with a grain element additionally intermixed. Mouthfeel is smooth and the finish is amazingly smooth if not a bit quick. A good brew overall but it unfortunately seems a bit short lived and relative to other stone brews slightly lacking in aggression.
