On tap at Fat Heads Cleveland. Poured a deep burgundy, almost black, with a thin tan head. Rich burnt and toffee aromas with some hop aroma mixed in as well. Smooth flavor, good mouthfeel, not as cloying as I thought it might be. Lasting burnt, hoppy finish. I wish I had regular access to this as it was VERY good.
Pouring at the Saturday sessions of Extreme Beerfest. Pours a murky brown to black with a thin beiged yellow head. Musky hops, cocoa on the nose. Chocolate, roast, cocoa. Roast and sweet oxidized plums. Cocoa, malt and wood on the finish. johnnnniee (4236) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 22, 2013
On tap at EBF 3/16/13.
This was a nice thick roasty but barleywine like brew that was sweet and hoppy. Really nice blend I quite enjoyed it. brokensail (16432) - Dublin, California, USA - FEB 6, 2013
Sort of a muddled dark brown pour with a khaki head. The nose has a strong barleywine type of character to it with lots of caramel, brown sugar, and dark fruits. A bit of roast, chocolate, and booze, too. There is a strong prune flavor as well as just a prevailing dark fruit and sugar sweetness. Caramel, mild chocolate, roasted malts, and a hint of coffee. Certainly a hint of alcohol on the finish. JohnnyJ (5545) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 4, 2013
Draft at stone bistro. Dark brown pour, light tan head. Sweetness, dark fruit, light roast, toffee, faint chocolate, citrusy hops, and bitterness. Decent, but it didn’t nock my socks off.

On tap at brewery. Black with a tan fizzy head. Yeast chocolate bread caramel and spice aroma and taste with dry doughy notes and a bitter chocolate finish. Smooth dilly palate. Nice. jmikolich (1477) - North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA - DEC 18, 2012
On tap at World of Beer Columbus (Easton) too much double bastard is all I wrote down, it was alcoholic type burn, very light smoke and no coffee flavors at all. just not what I would expect. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 9, 2012
On tap. Dark brown opaque color. Bubbly tan head. Some bubbles on the side of the glass. Good lace. Peppery aroma. Bigger body, but not viscous. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Nice subtle chocolate notes. Earthy hops. Good moderate bitterness. Light herbal notes and spice. Amazingly, all the stuff going on here works pretty well. If it’s a mess, then it’s a tasty toasty roasty herbal earthy mess. It’s clear that they didn’t just toss a bunch of stuff into a pile, this tastes more like it’s been carefully concocted. Nice chocolate malt and pepper combo. Nice creamy texture to it, too. Interesting and weird, I dig that Keir (183) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 7, 2012
On draft at keg and barrel. Dark brown with light tan head. Nose of fruit, bitter hops, a bit of musty basement. Taste of bitter hops, dark fruit, roasted malts, sweet. Oily mouth feel. Tasty!
