Thanks to askofficerfriendly for the share. Pours orange with a white head. Nose is berry, tartness, caramel, sweet grapefruit, and slight hops. Flavor is similar with the monstrous amount of hops that is usually present in this monster being neutralized by the barrel. Enjoyable and not very boozy. Liter swing top growler pour courtesy of askofficerfriendly. Thanks a ton man! Been wanting to try this for some time now. Pours deep near murky copper with full firm, impressive too for a growler pour, off white head. The aroma is full of malt sweetened grapefruit, vanilla, sugary apricot slices, spicy cotton candy, peach candy and oak. Seems like an odd array but they play wonderfully together. The taste is straight up smoothness urging you to sip slow to enjoy every pico liter of this liquid goodness. I get blunted smooth and also somewhat sharp citrus hop notes, sweet vanilla, malts and yummy smooth rich fruity esters. Into the finish it picks up a surge of grapefruit and tangelo as well as sweet smooth vanilla and assorted lingering hoppy goodness. dbarnold (1127) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - NOV 1, 2010
On tap at churchkey. This is a beer that really mellows with age and becomes really great, and the red wine adds to it! Mellow malts, some hops left and a red tint that’s unusual. Lots of really complex, subtle flavors, flowers, fruit, little bit of bitterness form the red wine. Not a big nose, but that’s ok, once you start drinking it’s very tasty! italarican (1550) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 13, 2010
Tap at the RnH Stone Takeover. Reddish bronze pour with a thin off-white head. Massively thick aroma of coconut and toffee with oak. It was simple and sweet, but I could have sniffed it all day. Flavor is predominantly toffee with pine. Slightly astringent, and the sweet notes make way for a hop bomb finish. A slight tannin quality to it too. I would have preferred the coconut quality I got in the nose to come out a bit more in the flavor. User29624 (1683) - - OCT 12, 2010
Tap at Small Bar. Pours amber with a small head. Aroma of sweet malt, heavy caramel, only light hops and light wood. I got a little bit of wood, and flavor from the red wine barrel, but nothing overpowering. Decent brew.

Flavor is heavy malt (cookie, caramel), heavy hops (floral, pine, citruus), and average esters with notes of wine and plum. Draft. Pours amber with a beige head. Lightly sweet aroma with some toffee-like sweet malty notes. The flavor has sweet toffee malts, some bery like fruitiness, and some light woody notes. Pretty good. Travlr (24866) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - OCT 8, 2010
