500 ml bottle shared by brew3crew. Pours a clear amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel, wood, vinous, some fruitiness, tannins with much of the normal hop character replaced by the barrel. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - JUL 24, 2013
Bottle, shared by JD and Andy at Beer Study. Thanks fellers! Pours a light cloudy orange, layered, no head. Nose is sweet and sugary, light marzipan, Belgian candi sugar, raisins, boozy dates, some grapey vinousness. Flavor is a little lighter, dark fruits, brown sugar, light oxidation. Bottle shared by brew3crew. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy dark grape, toasted malt and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy dark grape bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This also a complex solid beer. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 12, 2013

500 ml bottle to snifter (2010 vintage; muled by brew3crew for the group). Looks solid; a semi-transparent caramel orange off-white lacing. Smells good; sweet and malty with notes of caramel and toffee, and a nice red wine backbone. Tastes like it smells with a nice mouthfeel. Good beer! Slightly hazy orange with a small and rapidly fading off white head. The aroma brings barrels, wine, grapes, malt, booze. Nice flavor, with grape skins and wine barrels. Present alcohol, hut not overpowering. Lots of flavor. Malty, fruity, a bit sweet. Good stuff. Complex and well balanced. Would have again.
