OnTap Murkey deep orange amber. Thin but dense blanket of light tan head and even sheets of sticky lacing. Vanilla and light brown sugar malt aromas. Full bodied malty and lots of deep piney resinous bitterness. Moderate lingering bite. Mellow oak and barrel notes. Thisis12ptfont (1232) - Los Angeles, CA, California, USA - SEP 23, 2017
Aromas of vanilla, oak, cereal, oats, dark fruits, vanilla bean, aged malts, cough syrup, aged molasses, molded apricots, massive oaked malts, charred malts and toffee. Pours a brownish crimson with an assertive white foam rim and medium alcohol legs. Taste brings heavy cough syrup, aged malts, old apricot, bitter chemicals, chalky old candy and candied caramel. Mid palate comes in aggressive with oak, wort syrup, heavily sugared honey, maple syrup, molasses, tree bark, nougat, sugared caramel, liquified caramel, sugar covered apricot, stone fruit and cough drops. Finishes sweet with heavy alcohol, sugary tangerine, wort syrup, cough syrup and heavy oak. Overall, this is one hell of a beer. So much sugar, aged malts and oak in the forefront. Surprisingly the oak does not overwhelm and actually helps to push the original brews' flavors forward. A must try. dorain (714) - Berlin, GERMANY - AUG 8, 2017
Vom Fass Stone Brewing Berlin 2016-10 getrunken. Schönes Barley Wine mit ganz leichter Specknote. Feines Teil aber bislang das schlechteste Old Guardian. Dogbrick (14326) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 17, 2016
Sample from 2013 batch at Denver Rare Beer Tasting VIII on 10/07/2016. The beer is a murky orange-brown color with a medium thin off-white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of oak, smoked malt and fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of charred oak, smoky malt, caramel and fruit. The finish is oaky and smoky with a malty aftertaste. Pretty good overall. djd07 (16307) - Houston, Texas, USA - OCT 7, 2016

2013 Vintage, sampled from tap at Stone Garden Berlin. Hazy amber color with small eggshell head. Aroma is prunes, pears, fresh yeasts, a hint of smoke. Taste is more prunes, toffee, a bit dusty, some wood, with a nice bitterness. Oily mouthfeel, medium carbonation still. Very nicely aged American Barleywine!

Draft at WOB as the double dry hopped version. Meaty and smokey aroma. Flavor follows with a lot of meat juice drippings and woody smoke with light citrus. Interesting.

Copper color with sudsy off-white head. Smoked oaky aroma. Taste is quite smoked and bacony, a nice balanced barley/hop character.
