Tap at the Hay Merchant, Houston, 21/05/13.
Dark amber with a good sized off white head.
Nose is dark fruits, toffee, dates, light boozey oak, hint of smoke.
Taste comprises dark fruits, woody notes, booze, smoked wood, dates, tobacco, prunes, sugars.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, boozey finish.
Good stuff but this version didn’t add anything to the overall quality of the base beer. Booze present throughout but well integrated for the ABV.
Solid barley wine.
