UPDATED: DEC 22, 2016 2016 release. Pours a dark caramel color with almost foamy fleeting bubbled head. Smells bold sweet and ritch. Tastes like sweet maple sultanas with a brilliant bitterness and heat to finish. Dry hops eliminate the thick aftertaste. Brilliant.

Bottle 2012 Release. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of dried fruits, coffee, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, molasses, caramel and toffee malts. The taste was similar to the aroma with more caramel, toffee, chocolate, bourbon and a nice hoppy bitter finish. Really good.

Bomber bottle from beer club. Pours dark mahogany with a one finger tan head. Brewers description is fairly accurate which made it an enjoyable beer for me. However I thought I suffered a small stroke trying to read the small print on the back of the bottle. Then I realized the ABV was 11%. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very nice barley wine. Soft and nice mouthfeel, malt, alcohol, wood, spices, and dark berries. But glad I only had a sampler (10 cl).

Originally rated on 12/16/08. I sampled the early 08 release, Aroma of alcohol, sweet dark fruits like plum, and raisins, lots of citrus from the hops, and some malty notes. Appearance was a murky copper with orange hues, the head was thin and slightly yellow. Mouthfeel was spicey, syrupy and a little sticky. Flavor started with a bready malt flavor that was quickly followed by a citrus hop blast with alcohol showing up in the finish. Overall it was a pretty good BW, a bit overwhelming at first, but with a little age i think it would be better

650ml Bottle - Dark amber/light copper in colour. Pine, toffee, raisins and sultanas in the aroma. Leather, peach, pine, dried apricot, sultanas, caramel and raisins all feature in the rich and warming taste. This vintage is from 2012 yet is still fairly fruity and hoppy for a beer of this age.
