Dark amber color with a small head. Aroma is caramel, wood and molasses. Taste is caramel, wood, orange, fusel, burnt, boozy. Dry. Disapointing but ok.

Amber, caramel color, decent aroma, a little floral, honey. Very smooth, rich, a little sweet and a slight burn, but very drinkable. Maybe a little safe, lacking complexity, but very enjoyable.

From bottle. Part of April Dayton Beertasting event. Pours dark amber with large tan head. Aromas of toasted malt, toffee and hops. Excellent barley wine with slightly bitter finish. Love the Stonies.

Dark cloudy orange appearance, we’re sharing a bomber of this across three people. Hoppy and a bit spicy. I taste the alcohol on this one. Not too fizzy, it stays pretty soft. A sip of this is certainly a mouthful. This is a pretty good barleywine, very well balanced.

Orange/brown hue. Smells of hops and sweet malt. Well balanced with the hops subsiding into the maltinesss. The bitterness lingers on the lips. Very light for 11%.

Nice dark golden color, coppery I guess. Smallish, light tan head disappeared fairly quickly. Light citrus aroma, with hops, alcohol and something I couldn’t pin down. Kind of sweet. Flavor was a bit sweet as well, with noticeable alcohol, hops, and barely. Malt component was there but not overwhelming. Certainly not the best barley wine you’ll find, but fairly available and still very good. Not my favorite style but I was disappointed when the local retailers ran out before I could get a second bottle. 2005 vintage, 22 oz bottle.

Bottle. Copper. Aroma: Dark fruits, raisins, some alcohol. Flavor: malt, malt and malt. Warming and vinous.

2005. Cellar Temp. Orange red with and effervescent tan head. Big aroma of candy apples and fresh raspberry. Full frontal assault on the first sip. Super bitterness crawls into the middle and tears #[email protected]& up. Feel like the flavors are getting a bit bullied, they are there but I can’t pick them out of the bitterness. Very surprising after the gentle and enticing aroma. Now, the bitterness is very strong, but strangely not out of balance. As this beer rounds over time I would guess it will improve.

Overall a good barleywine, but it wasn't particularly unique. Maybe I was expecting too much. It is pretty hoppy...

Hazy orange beer with a minimal head. Lacing isn’t anything to write home about. Aroma is of grapefruit hops. Flavor is cascade dominated as well, with the malt supplying a nice caramel note to it. Palate is almost perfect. Soft full body, with the right amount of carbonation. With the hops supplying a dry, bitter end, you wouldn’t think this is a 10%+ beer. Very good.
