Amber in colour with medium carbonation. Very bready aroma, with some secondary notes of toffee, manderin oranges, and a bit of pepper. Medium bodied, with flavors of caramel malts, cookie dough, mild green hops, and a bit more toffee. Medium bitterness. Much less hop dominant than I had expected. It seems more like an amber ale than a pale ale to me. Good stuff. STEPHENDR (478) - California, USA - JUL 7, 2006
Light brown – medium white head- malt, hazelnut, brown sugar nose - bitter hops, malt, pine hops, fresh but lingering taste- medium body- aftertaste malty with a little hops 505 (271) - Echo Park, California, USA - JUL 3, 2006
Nice citrus, sweet aroma. Poured amber. Body is a little creamy. Flavor has nice balance of citrus and falts. A damn good APA. Pailhead (6539) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - JUN 29, 2006
Bottle: Courtesy of Duane via trade. Aroma is malty with cookie and caramel with light grapefruit hoppiness. Pours a bright transparent amber with a nice white head with decent retention. Great lacing. Very malty with lots of cookie dough, caramel, and light fruitiness up front with a light floral hoppy finish. sersdf (1020) - chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 29, 2006
draft at brewery. tasted like a milder version of all their other beers. how about some imagination stone? still, i applaud them for everything they’ve done for beer. i like this as a session beer, and perhaps within styles this is my favorite stone brew.

A fairly boring APA as far as i’m concerned. Seems like a really watered down arrogant bastard. Illini08 (542) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - JUN 21, 2006
OK, I know Duane just said the same thing, but I also just had a Dales Pale Ale last night, and this has nothing on it. This APA doesnt have much body, the taste dies very quickly... its just kind of blah. nothing really sticks out. there are other APAs out there that are much more worthy of your time. on a more positive note it was at least nice to look at. nice amber color, nice off-white head, and a little bit of lacing on the side of the glass. the rest of the beer just didnt match up though heemer77 (5358) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JUN 21, 2006
Thanks to Sarah for the bottle. The body is a slightly hazy dark orange and almost copper color. The head is light khaki and a hint of yellow. The aroma has some oranges and caramel. There is also a hint of flowers A very tame smelling beer. The taste is toasted walnuts with some caramel and iced tea. There is a little bit of bread crust. The body is smooth with a light amount of carbonation. A good expample of the style, but more subtle than I expected. barleyPops (1142) - Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA - JUN 20, 2006
12 oz. bottle picked up at Applejack in the Denver suburbs. drank this right after an Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale. this does not compare, lacking in hop aroma & flavor to the Dale’s APA. by itself, this is a decent brew, but in comparison, its just not as good as other APA’s. this Stone brew may be riding the coattails of some of the breweries outstanding beers to get an average rating of 3.75. marvinpontiac (117) - Huntington Beach, California, USA - JUN 18, 2006
A quality pale ale. Nice hoppy aroma - probably cascades - but still not as enjoyable as the alesmith pale ale, which is bigger and better in every way.
