Is this a hop devil I see before me? No ... it’s not quite as hoppy. But the basic idea is more Hop Devil than Ruination, more Cascade than Willamette, more orange and pine than grapefruit. Really nice beer ... just a little bit less hoppy and less intense than an IPA (of course) but more like a small IPA than a traditional American Pale. I’ll stick with the Stone IPA, I think. About as good as a pale ale can get. I have never found so many flavors in a style that is typically one dimensional. The aroma is of hops, but these are not intense as I expected. Light brown color with a thin head. Flavor is exceptional and very complex. The dominant flavor is a malt-bread combination, but there is also hop bitterness and some oak. Medium palate, but heavy for the style. Not as crisp and clean as some, but far more enjoyable than most. Storm (2684) - Amager, DENMARK - OCT 14, 2005
Tasted during trip to california. 65 cl Bottle. Light amber colour with a biege head. Light aroma of malt and fruitness. Great flavour that ends little dry. A nice easy drinking beer. footbalm (1219) - Western Minneapolis Suburbs, Minnesota, USA - OCT 10, 2005
Light golden brew with a mild hops aroma.I liked the mild flavor as it was very easy to drink with the hops not too in your face. tiggmtl (4545) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 5, 2005
Grapefruit, orange, leafy, tannin-full aroma withplenty of underlying malt sweetness. Clear copper coloured body with decent white head that recedes to partial cover and ring with some lacing. Tannin full toasty malt flavour with some cookie dough like yeast, orange, leafy hops and fair finishing bitterness. Medium body with engaging carbonation. Tulip glass. Allowed to warm from fridge temperature. Bottle (Liquormart, Oct-05).

Pours a clean copper/orange color with a fluffy white head. Aroma is somewhat floral with a little barnyard. Flavors are floral, grassy, a little barny, and a hint of citrus. Not as strong of a hop presence as I had expected. but still a good beer. mnurda (1285) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - SEP 20, 2005
Not as hoppy as I expected but it tasted fantastic. I can see why this is so highly rated, Nice amber colour. Hint of citrus. Great beer with dinner. timmy300 (203) - bloomington, Illinois, USA - AUG 30, 2005
