Stone Ruination IPA was the first full-time brewed and bottled West Coast double IPA on the planet. As craft beer has evolved over the years, so too have techniques for maximizing hop flavors and aromas. For the second incarnation of our groundbreaking India pale ale, we employed dry hopping and hop bursting to squeeze every last drop of piney, citrusy, tropical essence from the hops that give this beer its incredible character. We’ve also updated the name to reflect the imperial-level intensity that’s evident in every sip. Join us in cheering this, the second stanza in our “Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop.”

It pours deep golden-orange color with medium sized white head. Moderate retention. Smells strongly of orange, pineapple and grass due to tons of hops. Toasted malts and spicy phenols are in background. Taste is fairly bitter and tropical fruity. Grapefruit, peach and pine with biscuity malts. Long, bitter and warming finish. Med-full bodied and moderately carbonated. Strong and intense. The real West Coast DIPA.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2017 From bottle into pint glass. Pours a crystal clear light gold with a thin white head. Bright, clean hoppy aroma with grapefruit, orange, and some biscuit. Taste is bitter with a good balance of light malts. Light bodied, especially for a double IPA. Would definitely buy again if I ever come across it!

Best IPA I have ever had. The sad thing is it is hard to find here. It has a smooth and strong hoppy taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0,33l can from Damian Bottle Shop, Bratislava, Pours nice deep cloudy orange golden liquid, small creamy white head, Aroma: pine, hopy, grapefruit, lemon peel, Taste: medium sweet, heavy bitter, light to medium sour, pine, lemon peel, grapefruit, so hopy and intensive, it starts to resemble like a soap, Palate: full body, soft carbonation, oily mouthfeel, long harsh bittersweet aftertaste, Overall: extremely intensive beer, enjoyed. Yet drinkability is disputable, one third is enough.

Very nice, the beautiful hop colours are omnipresent and give it this silky deep double IPA taste, yet it remains a lot of bitter aftertaste, which is a little too strong for my taste. Some better IIPAs or doubles have managed to put that away. But that is what characterizes this special beer. Didn't know this was the first double IPA in creation, but it sort of figures. Not the best, but certainly very tasty.

Really good beer, a lot of hops but not too much, very well balanced. Best ratio between quality and price in Hammerfest Norway Vinmonopolet (and other shops where beer in sale).

a great stone classic that they changed but didnt mess up much. It pours a lovely hazy yellow mist of chaos and has a hoppy grapefruit smell. It is very delicious, savory, and drinkable with an abundance of bitter hops, some fruit swirls, and a resiny backbone. Even though its an old (April) bottle it still tastes real good which is a sign of some quality control. Good for a kitchen leftover cookout with boo boo after a long lovely weekend with friends in a mountainous cabin.

Vom Fass (Brewed at Berlin/D) Stone Brewing Berlin 2016-06 getrunken. Schöne Grapefruitfrucht und eine noch moderate Hopfen-Bitterkeit. Gar nicht mal so verkehrt.
