Please note that the Ruination produced in Europe is the Ruination Double IPA 2.0
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

Un bon IPA double. L’arôme fort du pin. Le goût est très amer et du pin. Ce n’est pas sucré pour une impériale, mais pas trop complexe non plus. C’est très amer, c’est sur, mais selon moi ce n’est pas assez. Oui, c’est bon, mais pour le style je croit qu’elle doit avoir un goût peu plus profonde.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2014 Aroma:, Pines, tropical fruits, citrus, grapefruit and caramel App: hazy orange/copper with small white head. Taste and Palate: medium body, resinous and a tad oily, average carbonation, light sweetness with bitter dry finish. Overall: A really really good double IPA. Aroma could be a little better, a tad too much of caramel. But so well balanced in mouth! Not too piney, not too citrus, not too sweet and doesn’t taste alcohol too much. One of the best from Stone. Not the first Ruination I had and definitely not the last.

From San Diego. Straw-gold, sudsy white head with huge chunky bubbles. Smells of heavy resinous bitter crisp grassy hop, leafy, hint of spicy malt. Gets maltier as it warms up. Tastes very bitter, metallic/mineral. Body is very bitter, stony, mineral finish. A very West Coast IPA.

Bottle from G&M brought from SD. Almost clear straw yellow pour. Aroma is intensely west coast hoppiness, a bit grassy and resiny. Taste follows - very bitter hops, resin, pine, crisp, mineral (?). Crisp boozy finish. Very west coast, San Diego-style IPA with super crisp resiny hops. Good but not great.

Everything it’s cracked up to be. The head is creamy and never goes away. Fruity, malty and bitter all in a big way. Chewy like a stout. Alcohol warms but not overpowering. A super sipper. Compliments mango habanero grilled shrimp well. Must try.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2016 This a huge bitter citrus hop bomb in every good way. This is my favorite double IPA. Bumped it up .1 for memory sake. Still the best double Ive tried. My favorite double now defunked.

Pours a hazy orange with a thin white head. Lots of caramel malts in the nose with distinct sweet tropical fruit aromas. A pungent resinous hop bitterness in the mouth accompanied by heavy malt sweetness and grapefruit and citrus notes. A heavy, intense IIPA with a huge load of hops!

Bottle. Hazy pale amber pour with offwhite head. Aroma has grass and tropical fruits. Quite sweet and somewhat complex nose. Taste has instant bitterness that does not fade away. Balanced with warmth and sweetness.

Clear light amber pour with white head. Aromas of sweet grapefruit and other citrus fruits, marmalade and light toffee notes. Big citrus bitterness throughout with a nice sweet ish malt backing. Lingering bitter finish, some alcohol sweetness and heat but we’ll integrated. Also some herbal hop qualities.

Tap sampler at Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. I’m subtracting a few points for being overdone. There’s a point where hop excess goes over the top and this one suffers accordingly. It takes a while for your mouth to recover from this uber hopped monster and it might ruin your palate for anything that follows.
