Cloudy,orange-amber color. Definitely a strong bitter taste, but smooth for an IPA.Sweet undertones. Full body.High hops. Thanks to richlikebeer for this one! richlikebeer (839) - Easton, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 23, 2005
tons of hops, in both the aroma and the flavor, but i think this needs a little more malt balance to put it into the upper echelon of IIPA’s. lots of pine, some citrus, and a little bit of grass, but not enough backbone to counter all of the hops. the bitterness is a bit too much, and the overall character of this is coser to a regular IPA than an imperial. as part 5 of IIPA Sunday, this was a little dissapointing. jzzbassman (1638) - Arlington, Texas, USA - OCT 23, 2005
A nice example of an imperial IPA. Leans more to the bitterness side, without much sweet. Head was very thick and foamy, leaving a resinous aroma. Full bodied, it starts with the flavor of chewing on a pine needle and rounds out with some grapefruit and ends with a bitter hop kick. mkgrenwel (619) - North Shore, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 22, 2005
Classic example of an imperial IPA. Strong american hop flavors of pine, grapefruit and other citrus. Tasty, if not a bit one dimensional. SuIIy (1984) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - OCT 22, 2005
22oz bottle from OhioDad...Thanks Scott! Pours a deep orange color with a big foamy white head. nose is kinda faint, light piney notes and some citrus is involved. taste is quite unimpressive. Hops of course are the main thing, very little malt backbone here to support the hops, decent bitterness in the finish.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2007 Rerate. Draft at Frisco’s. Clear pale body with a small off-white head. The aroma is floral and citrus with light cotton candy sweetness. The flavor is just lightly sweet and moderately bitter with grapefruit, tangerine and caramel. Medium body is round with light carbonation. Decent, but unremarkable. I had this next to Clipper City’s Loose Cannon and the Loose Cannon was easily better. PeterLikesBeer (104) - Berwyn Heights, Maryland, USA - OCT 21, 2005
Pours dark amber with a quickly vanishing head. Aroma is hoppy and piney. Flavor has a lot of hops, some malt and very nice mouth coating. This is a fantastic IPA! madzub (3) - Austin, Texas, USA - OCT 21, 2005 does not count
Aromas of pine and citrus with bitter, hoppy flavor. Very nice amber/orange color with a long lastng, slightly offwhite head. If you like your beer hoppy, then you’ll love this. beerbrat99 (132) - Shanghai, CHINA - OCT 20, 2005
Overwhelming and not to be taken lightly? I found this to be a wonderful Imperial IPA but somehow it didn’t live up to my expectations. Fantastic aroma but the hop flavor seems a little low due to some malt overload. It’s bitter but the hop complexity seems one dimensional. Still enjoyable and will try it again. UPDATED: AUG 18, 2007 rerate. nice that this is in a 12oz bottle. The aroma from this bitch is Two Hearted Ale on steroids. Flavor, again, is super centennial hops and rich malt smoothness. I think might be the freshest i’ve ever had this despite the bottle saying best 8/9/07 which was last week. this definitely awesome.
A strong citrucy hop aroma but not as strong as the normal IPA. Pours copper color with little head. Taste is syrupy and a little too much alcohol shines through. I think the regular IPA is better with nearly the same abv.
