Please note that the Ruination produced in Europe is the Ruination Double IPA 2.0
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

This beer will definitely make your tongue stand up and do a little jig. IPAs are not one of my favorite styles but I will make an exception in this case. Nice dark golden color with a medium thick off-white head. Sinus-clearing hops aroma with a nice floral touch. Senses-shattering hops flavor along with grapefruit and a little malt to keep your heart from stopping. Nice long, bitter finish. Excellent.

One-third pint, 7.2 % ABV, tap at North Bar. Crystal clear amber coloured body. Low, but lasting, white layer. Dried fruity aroma with a touch of pumpkin. Taste is apricot, resin and pumpkin carefully added by malty sweetness. Rounded bittersweet finish of citrus peels that lingers for quite a while. Nice (Leeds 01.07.2013).

(Bottle) Pours a golden copper color with medium head. Great hoppy flavor! One of my favorite IPAs!

Bov (13004) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - JAN 30, 2009
courtesy of Allen - hazy orange colour with a little white head; aroma of apricot and quinces; quite perfumy; full-bodied and very bitter, aggressive; dry and very bitter fruity finish - terribly one-dimensional and quite a deception considering the high score on ratebeer

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange gold with a small, and quickly deflating, white head. Hops arrive at the nose while opening the bottle, and the aroma lingers as one gets closer. Depth is provided in a light toasted malt fragrance with a slight undercurrents of citrus. Starts off soft, thick, and velvety with remarkably fine carbonation. Finishes strong with a warming bitterness reminiscent of heavily oaked wines. All of this bitterness is nicely balanced though, and clearly not as ruinous as Stone would claim, as I’m certainly thinking of following it up with another…

Keg at the Brewdog AGM 2014. Aroma is really dank, orange peel, resin. Golden / orange coloured pour with a lasting sticky off white head. Flavour is huge piney / grapefruit dank hops. Really big in your face clean grapefruit bitterness. Palate is nice sticky resin, superdry finish. Benchmark double IPA.

Taste bready and caramel malt, grapefruit, pine, resin, sweet fruit angain kiwi and melon. Medium body, soft carbination, lasting but overly bitter finish. UPDATED: OCT 14, 2004 Medium amber with an averaged sized off-white head. Piney/spruce smell with hints of oranges. This beer reminds me why IPAs are one of my favorite styles - hops, hops and more hops!

[thank you, after4ever]
Pours orange amber with a slight chill haze. Aroma is mild and fruity sweet with a good dose of hoppiness, but is really isn’t over-powering. Some caramel as well. Mouthfeel is extremely dry. Flavour is hop, hop, hops :o) Good backing from malts, but the hops are really at the fore here. Very, very dry, but also very one-sided. I’d prefer the 10th Annniversary Edition.

pours a foamy, retaining to rocky offwhite head with gold color. Aroma is sweet tangerine & grapefruit, bubblegum, malt. Taste is lots of dry, biting hops with back up malt, alcohol. Taste gets mellower as I progressed, or my mouth and tastebuds got mellower.
