From bottle. Poured cloudy golden color. Huge fluffy white head. Had to let it settle. Nice lacing on the glass. Aroma was all grass. Flavor grassy, citrusy, with mild sweet caramel hints in the finish. Thick but smooth mouth feel. You definitely get a hop bite out of this beer. gator2683 (199) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - APR 26, 2008
pleasant hoppy flowery aroma, thin soapy white head and a nice hazy amber color. not as intense as i was expecting. its immediately bitter, and goes to the roof of your mouth, then begins to mellow and ends with an earthy wheaty type flavor voota (765) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 8, 2008
Golden with a white head. Resiny aroma, sweet, hoppy with not much maltiness or caramel... kind of feels really green. Quite a mild mouthful, fairly bitter but not a ’hop bomb ’ as I’d expected. Lots of perfumey, resin flavours, a bit of pinefresh. The finish almost has a citrus twang, and quite a serving of alcohol. Not a standout, but pretty good all the same. fiver29 (1036) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - MAY 24, 2008
Bottle pours a dark amber color with white head. Has a nice sweet hoppy aroma. Has a medium mouthfeel. Tastes piney, hoppy, and citrusy. Is a nice hop bomb for a beginner. There are other more intense hop bombs out there. Overall this is a nice session IIPA. Simcoe (5) - , California, USA - JUL 15, 2008 does not count
An experience worth having, but not repeating, at least not very often. This is a great beer for learning about the difference between centennial and cascade hops, but give yourself half an hour before tasting any other beers to avoid pretty serious flavor distortion. There is a lot to be learned from this beer; we often learn to taste the presence of certain flavors in smaller concentrations by reference to an exaggerated example.

Golden beer with a white that left decent lacing. Sweet hoppy aroma. Floral hop flavors with more carbonation that I anticipated. Smooth beer with a very bitter finish. NextBestThing (22) - Westtown, New York, USA - SEP 6, 2008
Too much. Over the top hoppiness, more than necessary. I love Stone but prefer their basic IPA to Ruination. I don’t get even the whisper of a malt backbone, just hops for the sake of over-hoppiness. Not horrible by any stretch, a reasonably drinkable brew but there are other more desirable alternatives. If you get a reasonable example of Dogfish 90 Minute you’re drinking a better beer. Still acceptable if it’s the only bottle of Stone at your disposal. Travlr (24319) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 15, 2008
Neon orange with big white head. Aroma of hops, flavor of hops, a bit over the top for my taste. Decent citrus flavors hiding behind the hops. You have to like hops. A lot. Embrouille (2852) - SWITZERLAND - FEB 1, 2009
Beer trade with nearbeer. Aroma: Huge amount of quinces in the nose. Otherwise rather boring. Taste and palate: Good bitterness. Quinces dominating. Pleasant finish. Overall impression: A bit dissappointing. The flavor is slightly better than the aroma. Thanks a lot nearbeer! demdeac40 (299) - Etowah, North Carolina, USA - FEB 11, 2009
Nice amber color with a small white head. Nose is gorgeous. Citrus, floral and a backsplash of pine. Hops, hops and more hops in the mouth. A small amount of malty roundness keeps it balanced but this is a hop head’s beer. Finishes bitter and brutal. This is definitely all about the hops.
