Please note that the Ruination produced in Europe is the Ruination Double IPA 2.0
So called because of the immediate ruinous effect on your palate. 100+ IBUs. Bracingly bitter. Thick, pungent hop aroma. We would say that no hops were injured in the brewing of this beer, but that would be a massive lie. In fact, the words "Stone Ruination IPA" are what older hop vines use to cause little hop vines to quiver with fright and lose sleep at night . We at Stone honor the brutal massacre of countless hops with this "Liquid poem to the glory of the hop!" Paganism at its best!

Poured from a bottle. Not bad but overrated. Cloudy orange, little head, slight lacing. The aroma was the best part: maybe candied apricots. More bitterness on the swallow.

Golden pour with a white head. Unsurprisingly packed with resin, pine, citrus, nedium malt body and punishing bitterness. A very good brew, but, in my opinion, could use a little more sweetness from the malt.

Golden with a thin, soapy head. Bitter as hell. Not much on the nose, to be honest, but still quite good.

Keg at Brewdog Liverpool. A slightly hazy amber colour with a thin white head. Aroma of pine, resin with spicy and pungent orange, lemon and grapefruit. Taste is bitter and hop dominated with flavours of grapefruit, pine, alcohol and spiciness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation and a waxy texture. A long, dry bitter finish. A solid IPA but too bitter to be really enjoyable, which is a shame.

I know I have tried this before, just never got around to rating it. Aroma is a combo of pine and grapefruit hops with only a hint of malt sweetness to balance it out. I think stone wanted this one unbalanced. Not a particularly attractive beer. Murky light orange color with a huge white head of foam that leaves a mess on the glass as it recedes. Taste is hoppy, but not crazy bitter like you would expect. Grapefruit hops and honey sweetness that linger all the way to the aftertaste which is also hoppy, but still not bitter. The flavor stays with you even when you put the beer down for a while. I like that in an IPA. Palate is substantial and holds up to a beer this size. Not watery at all. Overall very enjoyable. Don't let the name scare you off. You can handle this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I was pretty surprised when I realized I havent rated this until now since I have had this beer so many times. Pours a kind or orangish goldish color. To be honest, it looks a little strange coming out of the bottle, but it looks good once it settles in the glass. Head is thick and dense. Aroma is straight up hops. Like that aroma, the flavor is pretty hoppy, but there is some wood and grass in there too. To be honest, I may prefer the straight up Stone IPA, but this does give you some flavor that you dont get with the standard Stone IPA. Like so many stone beers, this beer has a lot of flavor but it doesnt overpower you.

Pours clear with thin white head. Nice hop and malt aroma. Woody aroma. Bitter but not too unbalanced for my tastes. Fairly extreme aftertaste on my palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught. Pours clear orange with white head. In aroma the beer is floral with a hints of tropical fruits. All backed with solid and pleasant malty base. In flavour similar: malty but wit distinct bitterness and hoppy flavours. Alcohol noticable but it is not unpleasant. Medium to high body, strong bitter finish. In overall not impresive yet very pleasant one.

Among my least liked IPAs. Too bitter, too thick, seems overly hopped and lacks the balance of some of the other Stones. Glory to the hops, I fully agree, but somehow just couldnt get on board with this one.

Light golden appearance. Lumber is evident in the nose, something of a 2x12x16 piece of quality grade SPF lumber. Touches of malt also in the aroma along with some citrus. The body is really where the malt comes in handy, really hides the 100+ IBUs that this beer claims to contains. Dont get me wrong, this beer is big and hoppy, but the hops are balanced well by the malt. Interesting beer.
