3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle from Friar Tuck’s poured into a pint glass. Aroma is sweet, heavy malt and light honey up front with a mixture of faint pine and grapefruit hops afterward. Pleasant aroma, but I thought it would be stronger. Pours out a beautiful bright golden color. The only thing that keeps it from being a 5 on appearance is the huge foamy head which should be smaller for such a strong beer. Leaves some sticky lacing on the side of the glass. Taste is bitter, but in a good way. The malt sweetness stands up to it at first, but gives up quickly and the aftertaste is all hops. I am not finding it to be that much hoppier than Ruination, despite the higher IBU’s. Some alcohol burn, which I don’t mind at all. If it weren’t for the alcohol, this beer would be a one dimensional hop bomb. Palate is smooth, not overly carbonated. Definitely a sipper, it will take me a while to finish this bottle. Overall, I liked it but there are other strong Imperial IPA’s that I like more. Good, not great. It is reasonably priced; Kudos to Stone because they could have jacked up the price due to its high ABV and being an anniversary release.
Aroma of herbal hops, tropical fruits, lemon seeds, and spices. Flavors are similar with a oily resin finish. Strong and yet drinkable. Very good. Shag (3028) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - AUG 14, 2017
Dark orange color with a white head. The aroma is very citrusy, piney, and floral. The flavor is not very bitter but very smooth and creamy. I’m getting some orange flavored whipped cream, lemons, and pine. Some resin is present. This is unique but nice. Enniskillen (2060) - Bakersfield, California, USA - AUG 5, 2017
Amber/Orange with an off-white head. Aroma is citrus, hops, alcohol, mild caramel, vanilla. Taste is strong citrus, piney hoppiness, light alcohol. jimlarkey (9) - - AUG 5, 2017 does not count

Thin white head. Very hazy amber pour. Lovely bitterness. Some alcohol but it is well hidden. Nice brew.

OnTap hazy deep copper color with a thin fine lasting light beige head. Deep floral citrus hop flavors. Lots of orange and tangerine. Big caramel malt body and a long lingering bitterness. Smooth heavy and good fruity hopness. colui72 (1071) - HONG KONG - JUL 17, 2017
Pours deep golden/amber, with a medium white head and not much lacing. Fantastic aroma of orange peel, vanilla and mango. Tastes quite bitter but very rich and complex, with caramel, ale malts, orange peel, mango, mandarin and strong vanilla. Tasty and easy to drink, besides the over 10% ABV, medium body, smooth, creamy and softly carbonated, bitter finish, with lot of orange peel after taste (and burps, burps are definitely pure orange peel!). Excellency in a bottle! jmgreenuk (9756) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - JUL 15, 2017
Tap at Craffity, Chiang Mai. Poured a hazy medium amber with a short-lived frothy white head. The aroma is malt, big tropical fruit citrus, resin hop, alcohol bitter. The flavour is moderate sweet with a sweet orange peel citrus, woody, resin hop, warm burning alcohol bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. November 29, 2013 - with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs & mabel - bomber. Hazy light amber with a smallish white bubbly head. "Smells like Stone" - resin, floral, sweet yet dry, alcohol for sure - quite a lot of pineapple. Taste follows, but add citrus and citrus zest, strong alcohol. Average body and carbonation, astringent, medium long fruity/bitter finish, never OTT but big enough ... I’d have it again. chadski (152) - California, USA - JUL 9, 2017
One of my favorites. Slight lack of head retention but other than that, near perfect. Coppery color with caramel and molasses flavor balanced by hop bitterness. Thick and full-bodied.
