Bottle from Cap Tap. Pours near black with a transient tan head and a huge chocolate, coffee and bourbon aroma. There is a full-bodied dark molasses flavor with lots of chocolate and bourbon. A mouth full of delicious. willisread (4056) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 14, 2018
Bottle purchased at Craft Brewed shared at Lucky Bamboo share. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of beige foam that lingers. Big espresso forward nose with roasted cacao nib and milk chocolate aromas. Balanced well on the palate with some roasty hoppy bitterness and sweet milk chocolate bar. Vanilla and coconut undertones with some light bourbon notes from the barrel. Not overly boozy and very well-balanced. Nice break from all the pastry stouts these days. Lingering coconut and vanilla and espresso notes. the_beergery (242) - - MAR 5, 2018
UPDATED: MAR 5, 2018 2017 batch 3 500 ml bottle bought at the gourmet supermarket in Bangkok, and kept for another 3 months from purchase. Appearance is dark black with a little tan froth which disappears quickly. Aroma from the empty bottle is strongly chocolatey in nature, fudge, brownies cocoa, with almost no hint of roasted malts or coffee. Followed by bourbon booziness, and dried fruit. Taste is different, sharp distinct bourbon booziness, coffee bitter and sweetish dried fruits, but less chocs in taste. Mouthfeel us rich and oily, velvety smooth. shawnmurphy (739) - Plattsburgh, New York, USA - MAR 2, 2018

Warming booze burn that lingers. Wow! superspak (6510) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - FEB 20, 2018
500 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in 10/2017. Impossible to remove cork without a wine key as usual with this series. Pours dense opaque dark brown/black color with a small fairly dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, toffee, fudge, molasses, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of smoke, raisin, plum, cherry, marshmallow, licorice, leather, char, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Slight touch of booze in the aroma as it warms, but the coffee still dominates. Incredible complexity and balanced of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel notes; with big strength. Taste of huge nutty dark roasted coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, toffee, fudge, molasses, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of smoke, raisin, plum, cherry, marshmallow, licorice, leather, char, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Very mild roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, toffee, fudge, molasses, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, dark/brown bread, dark fruit, marshmallow, licorice, leather, light smoke/char, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal chalky roast, oak tannins, or dryness. Alcohol is extremely well hidden; a mildly increasing warmth of 13.5%, with zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is an amazing barrel aged Russian imperial coffee stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV; with the very mildly bitter/tannic/drying finish. Amazing enormous fruity/nutty coffee vibrancy with rich malt complexity; perfect barrel balance and integration. Never boozy, tannic, or drying. Hop presence is nearly non existent after the barrel aging. A really amazing offering, and spot on style example.

2017 Series - Batch #3 - Pours pitch black, quite fizzy, small brown head that faded in seconds. Aroma of coffee, over roasted malts. Notes of chocolate.
Tastes moderately bitter, strong espresso, chocolate fudge and roasted malts, wood and bourbon. Booze very well hidden. Full bodied and carbonation all gone during the pouring. Very solid, bat maybe expected more complexity. Very good, anyway. nickd717 (5094) - San Francisco, California, USA - JAN 13, 2018
Bottle from Bine and Vine. Pours black with a fading tan head. Aroma is crazy good, loads of coffee, bourbon, dark chocolate, vanilla. Flavor is also very legit, medium sweetness well balanced by bourbon heat, barrel tannins, and coffee ground bitterness. Full bodied, slick, low carbonation, medium hot for the ABV. Really legit.
