Wow... Great balance of flavors. Chocolate comes out more with the vanilla but the perceived sweetness is cut by the smoke. Mouthfeel is nice and soft. Love this beer!

Poured from bottle dark brown with a foamy head. Aromas of smoke and hints of coffee and vanilla. Taste is smokey and smooth with notes of vanilla and chocolate. A good offering.

Pours black with a frothy white head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, licorice. Upfront flavors of creamy vanilla, then coffee, chocolate, gypsum, then biscuit and mild smoky tones. Finishes with a hint of licorice. Light mouthfeel. Not bad, but not fantastic or memorable.

Beer is dark brown complete with a noisy tan very tall crown. Aroma is nothing special...... I feel sad now. Old coffee grounds, some chocolate, no trace of the vanilla in the nose. Maybe smoke....? I can taste vanilla, chocolate, mild smoke. Kind of watery. Clean finish. Excellent boring beer.

Pours a clear dark brown with a light brown head. The head is frothy at first but goes down pretty quickly. Aroma is lightly smoked with a light vanilla finish - slightly sweet smelling. The aroma is not as strong as I would have expected given the beer’s name and expected characteristics. I appreciate that this beer isn’t over smoked but the vanilla flavors is a bit sweet and overpowering. Overall, that flavor kind of ruins the beer for me.

Such a great beer. Poured into a glass. Little head. Smells delicious and the vanilla is prominent.

furthur (1214) - Eagle River, Alaska, USA - FEB 5, 2015
Bottle, deep brown, light light brown head faded. Aroma is toasted barley, dark fruit, vanilla. Taste is milk chocate and vanilla, coffee, with tbat toasted barley bitter finish. Almost sweet, then finishes dry. Palate is nice, not watery, not syrupy. Carbonation subdued, as is the vanilla. This beer has balance. Nice.

sudomorph (1176) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 5, 2015
650ml bottle. Enjoy by 03/25/14. Oops. Pours a deep ruby/black with a thin head. Aroma has nice notes of roasted malts, coffee, smoke, and burnt vanilla. Taste is bitter. Dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and just "burnt". Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth. Overall tasty but would probably be better fresh. Smoke, burnt vanilla, dark chocolate.

22oz bottle picked up at Total Wine
Clear dark brown with a small tan head, some lacing. Aroma is peaty, toasted malts and vanilla. Flavors are ashy, smokey, chocolate and vanilla
Ok, but thin

I’m not too sure about the hype for this one as even though it is the good stone smoked porter that I’m used to there is only a hint of the vanilla bean. For me that vanilla bean could be a lot stronger as it is juts there in the aroma and barely on the palate. There are a lot of other vanilla porters out there that are better such as one by breckinridge brewery. The beer is okay but probably not the best for this style.
