3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle from Bev4Less. Pours much the same as its chipotle sibling, murky brown-black, BUT the foam is off-white-to-tan and more thick and lasting. Some odors of vanilla cut through the smoke, dark malts and foam on first sniff. A little shake and another sniff doesn’t reveal much of anything new. Taste is initially tame, before a BIG (but not bad) blast of vanilla kicks in, followed by the smoke, followed by a "I’m not sure I like it" marriage of the vanilla and the smoke... this feels like a Vegas wedding to me... ill-advised and not likely to last. The worst part is the medicinal quality that the blend of the vanilla and smoke make... Second sip is somewhat better, but still not all the way gone. Ah well, both beers were not bad, but both have some serious weak point, IMHO...
Rich dark color with foamy white head. Very subtle vanilla aroma/taste (got more coffee, dark chocolate) with sweet smoky aftertaste. john44 (3101) - SW London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 31, 2017
Draft Third of a Pint at GBBF 2010 (Day 1), Earl’s Court, London Aug 2010 - Mahogany in colour. Lots & Lots of Vanilla. Very Malty; roasty malts, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, peat smoked malts, oak, more vanilla, caramel. Fruity; dark fruits. Hoppy; some balancing hop bitterness. Very smooth. Tasty. Subtler than a rauchbier. Lovely Beer! (2010-08)

Bottled. 2014 release. Pours dark brown, almost ruby tinged. Off white head. Aroma is very smoky, vanilla, some toffee, dark fruits, chocolate roasted malt. Flavor is smokey, roasted malt, chocolate, some vanilla. Body is a bit thin, but it’s less than 6% so it’s fair. Very good. Desverger (11492) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 2, 2016

Pours a dark brown with a medium offwhite head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of smoke, wheat germ, vanilla, coffee. Taste is dry with some bitter coffee grinds. Grapes (light acidity), vanilla, chocolate, coffee and smoke flavors. Body is light, carbonation moderately high and mouthfeel is weak/thin. Slight acrid and ash-y. Underwhelming, I somehow expected a bigger beer.
