Out of a bomber, nice deep dark almost black color, tan foamy head never fully disappears. NIce aroma, smoked maltiness hints of chocolate. Nice even mouthfeel not too thick or too watery. Nicely balanced not too malty or hoppy. Finish is smooth with a bit of coffee. I really enjoyed this would like to have somemore on hand. herbjones (742) - Orange, California, USA - MAY 21, 2005
Cant believe it took me so long to rate this one. Anyways, Deep brown pour sitting under a cocoa colored head. Very slight smokiness to the nose which doesnt seem to make its way through to the flavor. Still a decent porter, just would have liked a little more. beerbill (3618) - Laurel, New York, USA - MAY 18, 2005
Dark brown color with a touch of red. Nice tan head with some staying power. A bit heavy on the hops for my taste, but a very enjoyable brew nonetheless. hrhchristine (1) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - MAY 16, 2005 does not count
I hoped my love for smoked chipotle peppers and a good porter would make this a favorite. Maybe I just have an unsophisticated palate, but this tastes like bacon-flavored beer. jb (3414) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 15, 2005
Dark color with reddish tone. Tan head, not a lot of it, but it is thick! Hop flowers, chocolate malt, coffee and cherry aroma. There is more there too. Sweetness of the malt well balanced by smokiness and hops. Nice stuff.

Average looking porter, brown head, dark body with a reddish tint. Soft malty aroma. Fairly complex flavor, starts ever so slightly malty, then ends in a somewhat bitter finish. There is a wonderful smoking undertone to the whole mouthful. I would love to try this again in front of a winter fire. SpudClampDawg (1029) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - MAY 15, 2005
Some burnt caramel notes in the aroma are blended nicely with hints of marshmellow, dark chocolate, cherry and earth. More of the latter in the body, with the addition of some smokey and roasty overtones. The drinkability is almost scary - velvet smooth mouthfeel makes me want to pound this beauty. mephisto (1294) - TAIWAN - MAY 15, 2005
UPDATED: SEP 5, 2005 dark, brown foam. medium bodied, w/ roasted barley and chocolate, somewhat bitter finish. Tmoney99 (14976) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 14, 2005
Bottle. Poured black with average brown head. Aroma was roasted malt, licorice and small smoke. Full body with creamy texture and long finish with small bitter finish. Medium flavor. heemer77 (5360) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - MAY 12, 2005
Very dark brown with red highlights. An active light tan head. The aroma is roasted peanuts and cooked green beans. The taste is a full toasted bread crust and light tobacco. There is also some roasted and salted peanut shell. The smoke is lightly hidden in the aftertaste. This really smooths out as you go along. However, the slightly soapy finish still detracts.
