Draft at Brewvival. Hazy brown color, tan head. Aroma of vanilla, smoke, coffee. Taste is burnt cocoa, vanilla, smokey edge. Very nice.

brokensail (16432) - Dublin, California, USA - FEB 7, 2013
Almost black in color with a khaki head. Wonderful aroma of coffee, vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt, and caramel. Very mild smoke, some oak, and good bourbon notes. The flavor has a very nice sweetness of milk chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. Bourbon, oak, and nice roasted malt flavors with subtle smoke. Excellent all around.

Draft at the Bistro West Coast Barrel Aged Beer Festival. Pours dead black with a foamy tan head. Aroma is so bourbon. Med + body. The flavor is so bourbon. There’s some malt/hop stuff - maybe. The finish is so bourbon. Not excessive, but a lot of bourbon. Excellent.

Kind of a meher for me, smokiness isn’t huge, bourbon adds a nice bit of caramel.

hopscotch (11044) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 11, 2012
Growler... Translucent dark brown ale with a few scattered bubbles. The aroma is a swirl of bourbon, chocolate and vanilla. Medium to full-bodied with mellow carbonation. The flavor is fairly thin, but quite roasty with lots of bourbon warmth and a tannic, bitter finish. Thanks goes out to richiesd for floating this rarity my way!

Dark brown pour. Several samples at GABF. Loads of aromas here!! Smile, tar, bourbon, vanilla, cocoa, roast. Smoke and bourbon never tasted so good together. Awesome.

alexsdad06 (10268) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 3, 2014
Draft to taster at FoBAB ’13. Pours a hazy dark brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, dark chocolate, smoked malts, mild peat, mild bourbon, touches of vanilla and wood. Not crazy big, and may have suffered a bit compared to some of the other beers we were tasting around it.

3.7
marcus (10142) - Sacramento, California, USA - NOV 11, 2012
On tap at The Bistro BA Festival. Pours reddish brown with a modest beige head and a bourbon and treacle aroma. There is a very bourbon flavor over a nice darkl malt base.

phaleslu (10099) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 19, 2013
Draft sample at FOBAB 2013. Pours a cloudy, deep brown color with a huge, frothy beige head. Notes of dark fruits, roasted and toasted and faintly smoked malts, spice, chocolate, vanilla, and oak. Medium-bodied, with moderate soft carbonation and a roasty mouthfeel. Solid beer.
