Almost black in color with a khaki head. Wonderful aroma of coffee, vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt, and caramel. Very mild smoke, some oak, and good bourbon notes. The flavor has a very nice sweetness of milk chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. Bourbon, oak, and nice roasted malt flavors with subtle smoke. Draft at the Bistro West Coast Barrel Aged Beer Festival. Pours dead black with a foamy tan head. Aroma is so bourbon. Med + body. The flavor is so bourbon. There’s some malt/hop stuff - maybe. Brewvival Trip Beer 84. Draft at Brewvival. Pours a hazy dark brown color with a large creamy head. Good head retention. Aroma of vanilla, whisky, mild smoke. Kind of a meher for me, smokiness isn’t huge, bourbon adds a nice bit of caramel.

Growler... Translucent dark brown ale with a few scattered bubbles. The aroma is a swirl of bourbon, chocolate and vanilla. Medium to full-bodied with mellow carbonation. The flavor is fairly thin, but quite roasty with lots of bourbon warmth and a tannic, bitter finish. Draft to taster at FoBAB ’13. Pours a hazy dark brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, dark chocolate, smoked malts, mild peat, mild bourbon, touches of vanilla and wood. Draft sample at FOBAB 2013. Pours a cloudy, deep brown color with a huge, frothy beige head. Notes of dark fruits, roasted and toasted and faintly smoked malts, spice, chocolate, vanilla, and oak. Medium-bodied, with moderate soft carbonation and a roasty mouthfeel. Solid beer.
