Growler thanks to richiesd. Pours a clear, deep ruby to black. Little carbonation. Nose is strawberry, cheese, chocolate, blueberry. Taste is sweet strawberry, dark chocolate, mild cocoa butter slickness. Lemon tea finish- tart. Not as heavy as you would expect. On tap in Denver for GABF 2012. Pours a nearly total black color with a small tan head. A big sweet nose of bourbon and malt. Pour on tap, hazy dark brownish pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of big sweet vanilla, molasses, and dark fruit into bourbon, oak, slight spice into a hint of woody, tannic, smoke notes, some slight toasted bread. Taste was a mix of oak, vanilla, bourbon into sweet dark fruit, toffee, molasses into a bit of smoke, some spice, grass, finishing sweet.

Poured up on tap at GABF 2012 with a mahogany looking body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sort of sticky sugary prunes, sweet malts, a little bit of musty earthiness and then it gets both nutty and molasses like. The taste is rich delivering an almost black strap molasses like sweetness and spiciness to go along with dark roasted malts. Very nice, smooth.
Sampled at FoBAB 10 - 2012 (Chicago, IL). Pours a richer deep blackish hue, dark and ominous, opaque inviting hues with dark elements. Dark and inviting with roast, toast, cocoa and vanilla. Mellow oak and barrel gives some life, roasty and caramel with gentle growing smoke elements. Silky smooth nose. Initial is fuller bodied, offering cocoa and roast, earth and gentle smoke. Earth, roast, and caramel. Touches of sweetness glide over vanilla, barrel, gentle spirit and earthy smoke. Middle shows deeper flavors, silky dark malts and earthy smoke, roast. Firm barrel, vanilla and cocoa, some coffee, kiss of dark fruit. Backend and finish show lingering smoke and barrel, firm malts don’t let it get overwhelming with that sweet dark malts still giving some chase. Pretty nice beer here, the smoke element gives it a good vibe and some memorability for me. Nose is a touch lacking in strength, but the beer is quite nice. On tap: The aroma consists of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and a hint of smoke (could be power of suggestion). It’s a dark brown with some orange highlights and a small beige head. The flavor starts with chocolate, black licorice, and a touch of caramel. The finish has mild vanilla and a touch oak and smoke. It’s medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation.
