On tap. Brown in color, looks like dark cola with beige head. Aroma is bourbon, dark fruit and smoke. Taste is roasty, dark fruit, and a well balanced amount of bourbon and barrel. Very well done. Dr_MedievAle (214) - Alabama, USA - OCT 11, 2013

On tap in Denver for GABF 2012. Pours a nearly total black color with a small tan head. A big sweet nose of bourbon and malt. The flavor tastes like Stone Smoked Porter with vanilla and wood, a bit of heat. Not overly smoky or bourbon filled. Smooth. Good. JohnnyJ (5562) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 22, 2012
Growler fill from stone. Murky dark brown pour, small tan head. Smooth milk chocolate, sweet cocoa and vanilla, bourbon, light smoke, and a touch of dried fruit. The alcohol is completely hidden, no booze. A nice smooth, easy drinking bourbon BA beer if there is such a thing. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - NOV 17, 2012
On draft at GABF 2012. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Nose is smoke, molasses, roasted malts, dark chocolate, and some mild vanilla, bourbon, and oak notes, but not enough to give away the barrel aging. Flavor is sweet malt, chocolates, smoke, and vanilla with hints of barrel. Medium to full in body and very nice overall.

Sampled at FoBAB 10 - 2012 (Chicago, IL). Pours a richer deep blackish hue, dark and ominous, opaque inviting hues with dark elements. Dark and inviting with roast, toast, cocoa and vanilla. Mellow oak and barrel gives some life, roasty and caramel with gentle growing smoke elements. Silky smooth nose. Initial is fuller bodied, offering cocoa and roast, earth and gentle smoke. Earth, roast, and caramel. Touches of sweetness glide over vanilla, barrel, gentle spirit and earthy smoke. Middle shows deeper flavors, silky dark malts and earthy smoke, roast. Firm barrel, vanilla and cocoa, some coffee, kiss of dark fruit. Backend and finish show lingering smoke and barrel, firm malts don’t let it get overwhelming with that sweet dark malts still giving some chase. Pretty nice beer here, the smoke element gives it a good vibe and some memorability for me. Nose is a touch lacking in strength, but the beer is quite nice. Draft at Brewvival. Hazy brown color, tan head. Aroma of vanilla, smoke, coffee. Taste is burnt cocoa, vanilla, smokey edge. Very nice. jdavidh (164) - California, USA - MAR 25, 2013
Poured a deep ebony with a thick creamy tan head. Head dissipated quickly to leave a bit of lacing. Nose was more subtle than expected, but definite chocolate, wood, charcoal. Very creamy in the mouth with nice balance of carbonation. Taste is a bit dominated by the wood notes, with some hop bitterness. I was halfway through the glass before I got a sudden taste of bourbon flavors. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone bytemesis (8397) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - OCT 12, 2013
