COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Reflecting the red volcanic soil of our hinterland and brewed from a blend of pale and crystal malts, Jasper Ale is deep red, has a rich malt character and is well balanced with a firm spicy hop bitterness.

Pours dark amber, looks nice. Strange nose - bit like wild yeast, but maybe just herbal hops with a backing of crystal malts. Although I suspect an infection. Same unusual taste follows in the mouth - bit muddled for me, but finishes cleanly with a solid bitterness. Need to try again in a few months.

Bottle @ Sydney Airport. Pours hazy dark amber with an offwhite head. Aroma of malt, caramel, bread, sweet fruit. Flavor is rather sweet, malty, caramel, bread, sweet fruit. Thin to medium body, lively carbonation, sweet finish. Somewhat thin, but not bad. 130317

Bottle at social, broadbeach. Dark reddish brown color, big tanned head. Aroma has malts, caramel, some fruitiness. Nice malty and caramel body, some fruits, hint of bread.

On tap at Stone & Wood, pours a cloudy amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma brings out notes of earth and light berries. Flavour is along the same lines, with light English malt, some earthy notes, and red berries. Mild and fruity, with a sweet malty finish. Solid.

Deep amber/red pour with a thin tan head. Malty, caramel, dried fruit, and a bit of a weird chemical aroma. Taste is toffee, dried fruit, plum. Seems a bit thin. Its not terrible, but I still havent really had a beer from this mob that has lived up to their hype.

330ml bottle - Grilld, Cairns. A rich amber with a small but lasting off-white to beige head. Sweet choccy malts and slightly tangy mid to dark fruits. Gently spicy and pithy with good hop length in the finish. Light to medium body, medium carbonation and a moderate intensity bitterness of modest length. A little apple skin and roasty, coffee bitterness makes things interesting towards the back palate. Malt-focused but clean and balanced enough to refresh and abate the Cairns evening heat.
