We were inspired to brew this style of beer by the European village breweries whose ales were brewed and delivered fresh to be enjoyed in the pubs of the surrounding local area. Draught Ale is brewed to be served fresh in the many great watering holes just down the road; therefore we don’t need to filter or pastuerise it. We want it to be served over the bar just like it is in our storage tank at the brewery. Brewed with local water from the Byron Bay hinterland, Australian grown barley, wheat, and hops, and carefully selected ale yeast we have crafted a beer with complex flavours and a clean bitter finish.

Formerly known as Draught Ale.

Great fruity aroma, a little thin, light fruity flavours. Not a bad beer, very refreshing.

Tap at the Napier Hotel, Melbourne. Poured a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is grassy, piney, citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter with a crisp, fresh, slightly watery, grapefruit citrus hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a bright gold colour with a thin white head, aroma is light and hoppy with hints of fruit, taste is light bitterness with a dry crisp bitter finish.

4.4%ABV. Pale ale. Poured out light thin gold. 4SRM. Poured out like looking like a kolsch. Nose has some carbonated watery, water biscuits and flour. Light sweet malt, but otherwise pretty thin. There is some ashtray or stale cigarette smoke odors. Not very pleasant. Mouthfeel is beery and very light. Palate has pale malt, remiscent of a James Boags pale ale. No hops. Mineral body is the primary taste note for me. Overall, pretty forgettable.

330ml bottle. Peach, orange, lemon, lime, floral, biscuit. Fruity and bitter up top but with a messy malt finish. Not a great success.

GoufCustom (1998) - HONG KONG - APR 4, 2017

330 ml bottle bought at YATA in MOKO, Mong Kok.

Clear light golden colour with a layer of dirt-like yeast sediments; Half finger head with soapy white foam which faeds in 40 seconds; Very good sticky lacing and very slight carbonation; Fragrant aroma of Ale malt, with passion fruits, light peaches, wheaty tartness, honey, floral, sugar, earth, dry biscuits, yeast, light lemon and light grass; Close to light sweet taste of light Ale malt, with wheaty tartness, very light grapefruit, hint of yellow fruits, faint floral, sugar notes, faint spices, dry biscuits, light lemon and very light bitter grassy hops; Close to medium body. Dry and slick palate; Mouth Feel is light maltyness in a thick and very wheaty body, without too much tartness. Low-fi hops of grapefruit and faint yellow fruits. Also low sweetness with dry bread and light lemon to round. Easy but too simple… Hoppiness is passion fruits, light peaches, floral, earth, light lemon and light grass in nose. Very light grapefruit, hint of yellow fruits, faint floral, faint spices, light lemon and very light grass in taste; Bitterness is very light for an abrupt, very low astringent wheaty finish; Dry after taste. Very easy to mouth.

Comments: This is supposedly focusing on Galaxy hops, but both the malt and hops are underwhelming plus too much wheat to make it light and easy for the masses, this is almost like a mildly-hopped Wheat Ale, which would be nice for that style, but as Golden Ale, this is too low-fi and disappointing.

Poured from 330 ml bottle. Low head low foam retention. Golden hazy color. Slight citrus notes in smell. Light body, low bitterness, again light citrus notes in taste. Nice feeling in mouth, refreshing but nothing remarkable.

Draft sampled in Sydney. Pours a light golden body with thin white lacing. Nose is fresh tropical fruit and soft citrus notes. Mouthfeel is light bodied with notes of tropical fruit, melon, soft pine and citric hop.

Schooner. Pours a pale hazy straw colour with minimal head. Aroma: citrus, grapefruit, passionfruit and tropical aromas. Taste: balance of citrus, passionfruit and tropical flavours that finishes cleanly on the palate. Moderate carbonation. Malts take a back seat to the tropical flavours. A perfect session beer for a hot summer’s day! Tends to be better on tap than bottled in my experience.

On tap at Pier Marina Mirage, Surfers Paradise. Hazy gold with OK head. Citrus/grapefruit aroma. Mild bitterness with hoppy palate/finish. OK.

Didn’t have great expectations of this so was midly surprised. Light fruity aroma, quite mild. Light yellow in colour with thin white head. Tropical passhionfruit taste quite refreshing, especially as I just mowed the lawn.
