COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed for when the days are short and the nights are cold, our winter seasonal honours the ancient techniques of brewing. By adding wood fired stones to the kettle to rouse the boil, the malt characters are intensified. Dark and robust, our 2017 Stone Beer uses six malts, giving it a roasted caramel aroma that’s balanced with a warming, full bodied cocoa flavour.

This started well, as an interesting and complex dark beer, but it sort of fell off toward the end and lost interest, when a good dark beer will just be getting started. Odd

Had on tap beside the 2016 version. Reddish/brown almost cola-like appearance with roasted earthy malt aroma. Malt-driven taste as well: caramel, molasses and a bit of smoke in the finish. Sharper taste than the aged version

Dark and fizzy head, like cola. Sweet chocolate coffee aroma, followed through with taste. Mild bitterness to round it out. Decent dark beer.

A bit rugged around the edges with a smooth centre, this is like a burnt marshmallow, a mountain cabin with an open fire roaring inside, or a woollen jumper ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared at Chris & Ruth´s House. A dark reddish brown beer with a small tan head. Aroma of reddish malt, dark malt, some liquorice. Taste of dark medium sweet malt, melasse, low bitterness.

From a 500ml bottle on 4/7/2017. Pours dark brown with little in the way of head. Has a light caramel malt aroma. The flavours are light and primarily sweet, with chocolate, caramel and vanilla. Finishes with a mild roasty bitterness. A pleasant drinking dark beer

500ml bottle into tulip. 25th June, when the days are really short! Dark, really dark with a thin frothy head. Nose is pleasantly malty but faint. Full-bodied, taste is roasted cocoa. Finish is long and slightly smoky with sweet notes. Very smooth and delicious like expensive dark chocolate.

Draught at Hoo Ha Bar, Brisbane. Poured an opaque black (even under strong light) with a 5mm light tan dense foamy head that retained very well and laced very well. Carbonation low and slow with rare coarse bubbles. Aroma nicely of roasted flavours with coffee, cocoa and sweet vanilla prominent. Taste very flavoursome with roasted coffee, chocolate and vanilla/chicory plus hints of dried fruits. Medium to heavy body. Very smooth and creamy with a slight sweetness and low bitterness on the finish. Nice.

170617. On tap at a Tipplers Tap. This years version of Stone Beer is a cracker. Dark and roasty it fills the mouth with a caramel and vanilla flavour. Reasonably full bodied with a long strong finish.

On tap at Brewers Cooperative. Pours black. Charcoal, caramel, lots of apricots and peach. Really tasty.
