UPDATED: DEC 20, 2017 Pours dark orange with small head. Aroma: a lot of barrel, with hops hardly making it through. Taste: again too dominated by barrel, with a touch of citrus.

Barrel aging and IPAs don’t usually work for me, but this one does. I think the gin botanicals come through strong and mix well with the hops. This beer pours a clear orange color with a lot of foam, the aroma is gin and pine and woody barrel notes. The flavor tastes strongly of the barrel and the hops, and the gin character is really nice here. I don’t even typically like gin itself, but I enjoy this. I’d have this again.

SinH4 (6931) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - SEP 29, 2016
Sampled from tap at Stone Garden Berlin. Clear copper-amber color with off-white head. Aroma is oak sugar, caramel, toffee, some dust and a little bit oxidized. Taste is caramel, oak sugar, a bit wood. The bitterness in the finish is partially tannic and partially hoppy. Obviously not the ideal base beer to age on wood, but I’m surprised by how balanced the result is!
