Black, bready head. Lovely gently roasted-to-burnt aroma. Lovely smooth palate, full, and a touch milky. Carbonation low. TAste is a beautiful gentle toasty roast. Perfect to session, simply delicious.

Capers. Dark. Some spicy baked apple retronasals. Super roasty. Smooth and soft. Both heavy esters and rich roasts in finish. Super porter. Not quite as good as last time, but still a super quaffable beer.
Cask Conditioned at The Prince Regent, Whitchurch, Berks. Chestnut coloured with white whispy head. Burnt smokey aromas predominate and lots of highly roasted dry but smooth malt which ties the tongue into a bitter, charcoal beeriness. Very decent. thewolf (12803) - Kolding, DENMARK - JAN 13, 2009
Cask @ YNWA, Kolding. Pours a nice, deep, chestnut brown with a small, creamy, light-brown head. Aroma is sweet, lots of fruity plums, some milky chocolate and light smokiness. Low carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour starts out with a tartish fruity edge, but soon settles as a sweet, malty beer with peity, chocolate and roasted tones. Dark with a small head and well smoked in its aroma and partly in its taste too. Has a slight peat character about it.

Cask at the Assembly Rooms, Solihull. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is light toasty malt, light smoke, dry coffee. The flavour is smoked liqourice with a light, slightly watery, coffee, malt, light chocolate palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Cask-conditioned at the Royal Oak, Bath 3/1/09. Dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma of coffee and milk chocolate. Flavour started with some sweet, creamy chocolate before a touch of smokiness and some spice. The finish was pleasantly bitter.
