On tap sometime between Christmas and New Years. Big bomb of a barley wine. I think it’s the strongest they ever made. It was darker and perhaps a little less hoppy (probably more malty) than Old Guardian. Different, but not all that different from OG. Still, a wonderful chance to taste a very rare beer is appreciated. Thank you Stone.

RBSG 2007 Grand Tasting. Cloudy golden orange body with a small frothy white head. Sweet caramel and molassas aroma. Sweet caramel flavor with some light floral hops.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2007 Rating #3600... Bottle… RBSG 07This beer rocks!… Hazy light amber ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Aromas of cookie dough, caramel, toffee, dried apricot and sweet port dominate my nostrils... they flare in defense. The flavor sways between citrusy hops and caramel malt and finally falls just barely on the bitter side of balance. Full-bodied with a silky, then astringent mouthfeel and pillow-soft carbonation. Finishes bitter and boozy. Thanks to ElGaucho for providing the bottle of this world class brew!

RBSG 07 Minneapolis Grand Tasting: Hazy copper, no head or lacing. Nose of sweet caramel and plum, decent hops. The flavor is plenty sweet, subtle and balanced, very nice. Creamy and caramelly, light alcohol. Notes of pine and grass, beautiful barleywine, wish I could get some more.

From the Bottle at the Falling Rock Tap House, Denver 26/09/2009 Bourbon aroma. Amber coloured strong in alcohol and smooth on the palate with a little dryness and bitterness in a warming full malt finish.

On tap at Stone. Woohoo! Copper pour with almost no carbonation showing in an unfortunately small taster size glass. I wanted to get to know this brew in a snifter, at least! Nose is alcohol and sharp dark fruit. Taste is same as nose. Alcohol, in a good way. Dark fruit. Bit of spiciness. Nice to get to try this brew.

Bottled. Tasted as blind # 7 @ yesprs. Orange coloured. Unclear. Dense light brown head. Sweetness, fruits, herbs, caramel and light prunes in the aroma. Flavour of fruits, herbs, prunes and caramel. Slightly occidated, but not really an issue. Medium to full bodied. Grapy ligth bitter end.

Bottle. Weak vanilla aroma. Hazy red amber colour. Very small tan head. The flavour starts off sweet, there is some caramelly hop flavour. Good vanilla sweetness, perhaps a little toffee. Distinct bitterness, a little rough, but balances the sweetness OK. A barley wine, I suppose. 838318
