Misty orange with a big mushrooming head. The level of sediment leads me to believe this is a tad bit old. In fact, so does the drying sourness to the bite. I’d like to try this one fresh ... I sense the incredible sense of raw bread dough to this may not be a fair rating, but that’s what I got. Lou18 (1353) - West Paterson, New Jersey, USA - AUG 15, 2005
Degarth, thanks man. Yet another surprise from the bottomless box. Poured a ark yellow/orange, with a foamy white head that left good lacing. I got some hoppiness, lots of dryness to finish, with malts all the way thru. Nose was weak, but had some malt. Not a bad brew. NYHarvey (2153) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 5, 2005
Sweet malty and floral aroma. Light gold color with a thumb thick white head. Watery foretaste followed by some aimless sweetness and more water. Worst of the Stoney brews I have tasted. tbarnette (105) - Allen Park, Michigan, USA - AUG 5, 2005
Pours cloudy, tastes good. Bitter and strong, just the way I like my Pale Ale’s.. nick76 (4399) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JUL 29, 2005
UPDATED: AUG 1, 2005 One of the most highly malted Pale Ales I have ever smelled or tasted. The aroma is like bread and floral hops. The appearance is a hazy brownish golden and there are small precipitants in it as well. The flavor has a deep rich malt to match the aroma but unfortunately has an astringent bitterness and some saltiness to go along with it. The aftertaste has a little toasty and nutty flavors to add to the mix. I want this to be one of my favorite beers but the unpleasant hops keep it from being so. Still, this is a must try.

Bottle with heavy sediment. Poured with the expected cloudiness and the heavy hop aroma. Orange tinge with cloudiness, heavy head and strong lacing. The hops did not overpower the flavor and there was a nice bitterness to the finish. jhliesen (832) - West Melbourne, Florida, USA - JUN 27, 2005
Botte-I have to agree with OhioDad, this was way better than the red ale. It pour a nice hazy orange. Not bad at all- a nice drinking APA, not outstanding, but nice. heemer77 (5358) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - JUN 23, 2005
SLightly cloudy dark ornage colored body. The head is slightly yellowish and tan. The aroma has pine, menthol and some plastic. The taste is grapefruit and some pine with a nice caramel touch in the back of the throat. This has enough character and body to keep it interesting. tjwais (42) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - MAY 1, 2005
Unfortunately my situation demanded that I drink this from the bottle... slightly hoppy, smelling of grass and wheat. Earthy. Clean, crisp, light, easy to drink. Pailhead (6539) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - APR 22, 2005
Bottle: Very malty with tons of caramel, light cookie, light hop aroma. Pours a dark transparent amber with a white head that has a yellow tinge to it. Decent retention. Moderate caramel flavor with a little citrus and light hop finish. The hop flavor just seems a little off to me.
