Pours orange with a nice thick head. Hoppy aroma smells delicious with a hint of pine. A little hazy to look through. I was taken offguard by this one. I didn’t expect much after trying the red ale previously. This was much much better. Flavor was hoppy and a little pine. Nice and bitter at the end. My bottle was pretty good for an American Pale Ale. I could drink this again! Murphy (1759) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 7, 2005
Thin head, hazy orange. Light musky malt aroma. Solid body, with balanced crystal sweetness and a touch of hops. Some strange vanilla taste in there too. Ok stuff. KarmanGhia (276) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - FEB 6, 2005
UPDATED: JUL 17, 2005 Yes, this is an APA, but it’s a bit out of balance with the piney hops. There’s also a muskiness in there that’s a bit annoying. The unfiltered and hazy gold is inviting, and overall I can’t complain about this one. thehoff (598) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JAN 9, 2005
Grapefruit, cinnamon, flowers in the nose. Looks like a muddy orange beer with white head. Dry beer with a normal pale ale flavor, nice bitterness. Nicer pale ale than the geary’s that I just tried. Almost has a floral flavor as well. Not bad at all. steview (1037) - Petaluma, California, USA - DEC 6, 2004
yeaup... more malt than hops. slightly cheesy, but more doughy--or doughy biscuity. a bit sweet and lemony flavor, also. hmm. it’s not great! it’s another decent brew. meh! Is there an APA THAT WILL STAND OUT FOR ME?! (I mean, besides Alpha King... and Burning River was pretty good--but what’s up with this style? It’s so trying to be albeit whatev’)

Bottle, minimal white head, hazy golden in color, smells of hops, definite pale ale taste with bitterness throughout, not a bad beer unclebleen (620) - California, USA - OCT 23, 2004
This pretty much sums up why I don’t try many APA’s anymore...they all taste alot like this. Not bad but just kinda there. Slightly bitter and...ah why even spell it out...if you’ve tried more than 5 APA’s you know what I’m talking about here. jtw (1165) - farmington, Michigan, USA - OCT 21, 2004
middle of the road APA. definitely dryhopped with cascades, and not overly bitter or over alcoholic. nice session beer, definitely one i will drink again, but not a spectacular APA. SubstanceT (1092) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - OCT 11, 2004
Just your standard american pale ale, nothing exciting at all............... Pigfoot (2268) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 21, 2004
Hazy, orangey hue, goodly sized white head that...whoops it’s gone...
Aroma, mild, soapy hops, softly fruity...nuttin’ much else...
Taste...not much....nicely balanced, but utterly lacking in flavor...they seem to have just the right ingredients to make a beer, but shied away from enough to make it taste any good.
Light bodied, insipid finish, bleh, bleh, bleh, Starts out kind of fruity, tasty, malty, then drops dead.
