Passable, but not anything special going on here. Had a slight saltiness that made the beer palateable. Clean crisp and boring. dp (608) - uniontown, Ohio, USA - JUL 26, 2007
$15 a case, didn’t expect much, was happy with what i purchased, creamy tongue feel, bubbles, easy to drink, hint of malt, kind of a very odd mint like aftertaste bac080 (398) - Bloomington, Illinois, USA - JUL 12, 2003
As I was drinking this, someone walked up and called it the "diabetic beer." No sugar added, etc. Not bad. Bigsilky (327) - Charleston, USA - JAN 20, 2006
This is my boat beer. IT’s in cans, and doesn’t harbor a lot of flavor. Perfect for the heat. Am I supposed to drink Imperial IPA while fishing????? I think not.
Worse than Beast? Old Mil? Someone needs a hug.
I’ve paid more for a lot worse. xav33 (313) - Midland, MI, Michigan, USA - SEP 15, 2006
16 oz can
Recent Brewing, drank 09/06
Medium pour in a pint glass.
Poured clear light yellow with a small white fully diminishing head.
Smelt of sweet multi grain bread.
Taste was upfront moderately sweet bread followed followed by a light sweet fruitiness and light bitter bite, and a tinge of weird off putting taste. Mouthfeel was light to medium, creamy, bubbly and lightly astringent.
Overall, I’m not sure whether to hate this beer or love it. It’s like a good obscure cheap american pale lager, but at the same time, it’s a cheap american pale lager with all these funky tastes.

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2010 This is a rerate because I’m really disappointed in the "new" Stoneys beer. It’s not nearly as good as when it was made by Iron City. Where Iron kept to the original recipe for the most part, this contract brew is just a run of the mill macro: more watery, less flavor, drier and less drinkable. tone77 (256) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 5, 2012
Pours a dark golden color. Smell is of grains, corn. Taste is grains, a bit medicinal at the finish. Overall a mediocre beer. Beer Guy99 (251) - Maineville, Ohio, USA - OCT 25, 2001
Typical of a standard domestic lager but there’s enough extra depth and flavor to give Stoney’s an edge over the mass-produced domestic lagers from the giants. If Bud is your beer, why not buy Stoney’s...it’s better is every respect but close enough to your familiar style of beer to keep you happy. I’d much rather support little Jone’s Brewing Company than the giants who are trying hard to kill these little breweries. Not a bad product but I would like to see them eliminate the adjuncts and go all malt. RONCOD (247) - Uledi, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 9, 2015
Pours a light yellow with a thin white head. Slight metallic taste. Not the greatest beer I’ve had but I have had worse. At $6.99 for a 24 pack, I had to try it. Puss Gutt99 (206) - Oldtown, Florida, USA - JAN 5, 2002
i had this years ago when i lived in rural Ohio and enjoyed it’s ’blue collar’ appeal, I hope it survives the canalbalizing efforts of the monster brewers in this country
