COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Identifiable by the rubber rat on the tap handle. Black Plague Stout derives its name from the historical fact that at one time in Europe beer was about the only safe liquid to drink. Black Plague is Irish style dry stout brewed only in fall and winter and only in small batches to ensure the freshness so paramount to such an intensely roasted beer.

On draught at Caf Deux Soleil. Served in a mason jar. Appearance: Opaque black, creamy beige head. Aroma: Hints of banana, raisins, cough syrup, toffee. Taste: Fairly sweet start, tapers off a bit in the finish. Alcohol is noticable, despite not being that strong. Palate: Thick bodied, smooth and creamy. Slightly dry finish.

One of the many brews I had at St. Augustines that Im finally putting the reviews up for. Pours purely jet black opaque with a nitro looking finger of head beige in color. Aroma has a rich roast with a bit of cream or sweet lactose note. The taste is rather sweet with a bit of bitterness and a very normal roasted note. Full bodied with an almost syrupy texture. Overall not a terrible stout, but a bit over sweetened.
