COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A moderately strong Belgian Abbey-style beer. The traditional yeast strain imparts a complex assortment of spicy phenolic and fruity flavors Hints of clove, plum and raisin permeate this rich, malty and full-bodied beer. And its lofty, tan head sits gracefully atop the seductive, deep mahogany nectar.

A 2/00 version. Soft, malty, and maybe too old. Head dissapates quickly.

Pours a deep dark brown with a nice tan foamy head. Aroma of dark fruits, plums raisins. Taste is nicely carbonated, spicy, malty. Full body. A nice Belgian abbey style ale.

Tap from just a small sampler (2oz?). The most obvious quality to me was how much this reminded me of a tripel; plum and raisin, sure, but general maltiness with honey on top and much more in the way of phenolic overtones. Mahogany pour, medium body, nice and a touch spicy.

12 oz glass off of tap...Large light brown head that dies quickly. Hazy brown with a red hue. Malty somewhat buttery nose that was originally sour, as it warmed it made for some pleasent changes. Medium body, good mouthfeel, creamy texture. Good malt flavor, Fruity, yeasty , spiceyness all work well together. a "multi-colored " beer , appearing lighter in color towards the bottom of the glass. Mid hops, with a fizzy carbonation. Had a "home brewish" taste to it.

7050. Pours an amber brune body with a tan head. Dark fruit, plum and raisins, malty tawny caramel and a light woodiness. Dried fruit and a lush malty warming body. Nice brew.

750 ml bottle that I have had for several years - Im not sure of the age of the bottle. Pours a crystal clear deep red with a moderate, sudsy off-white head that is initially more reminiscent of the head on a glass of Coca Cola than anything else. The head quickly settles into an incomplete film and leaves a partial coating on the glass. Pleasant aroma of malt and brown sugar. The flavor is malty and a bit richer than the aroma suggests, but with none of the brown sugar sweetness. Fairly smooth with just a hint of alcohol at the very end. One of the better offerings I have had from this brewer.

An ’01 vintage bottle. Vinous. Possibly from its superannuation? Rather sour. But the other flavors poked through.

Very nice authentic Dubbel. Primarily a malty flavor but dubbel fruit tones come make their presence known in the aroma. Sampled at Stoudts 17th Annual Microfest: June 2008

It has a medium/amber color to it with an ok head and ok lacing. It is a very sweet malty smell. Very inviting. It has a very sour/lemony taste to it. Like biting into a lemon.
