Bottle... This beer rocks! Pitch black ale with a large, fluffy, dark khaki head. Excellent, creamy retention. The aroma is simple and divine; milk chocolate and coconut. Well-balanced with lightly singed, mildly bitter notes that keep the beer’s sweet mocha/coconut/caramel symphony of flavors finely tuned. Medium to full-bodied and spritzy. Chocolaty, creamy-smooth finish. Cheers to hopdog for sending this world class beer to me! whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 23, 2006
Deep coffee-brown color with a substantial and persistent creamy beige head. Aroma is somewhat muted by the persistent head but reveals pungent whiskey notes and underlying vanilla and milk chocolate. Barrel-aging is well-integrated in the flavor with light tannins and oak, plus abundant creamy chocolate. Fairly thick and silky, but a little too much lively carbonation on the tongue. Very nice barrel-aged stout. Would benefit from a little breathing.

750ml bottle. Thanks for egajdzis for sharing this one! Oaky smell and slight bourbon hinting from the glass. Nice size head with dark body. Flavor is very smooth with a blend of vanilla, oak, and a well hidden bourbon character. Nutty and well balanced. A very nice imperial by Stoudts. Cheers! hopdog (13249) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 22, 2006
750ml bottle shared courtesy of egajdzis. Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of wood, light whisky, oats, vanilla, caramel, and chocolate. Tastes of wood, light oats, vanilla, chocolate, roast, and very light bourbon. The barrel aging was well done in this one. weeare138 (936) - Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 22, 2006
Thanks to egajdzis for deciding to crack this open at the tasting...
Appears black with a small tan head that slowly fades into a mild collar. Lots of spotty lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of bourbon oak, vanilla, raisins, nuts, rich caramel, brown sugar, and cream.
Taste is of the aromas with a light, mellow bourbon and oaky vanilla flavor melding wonderfully. In comes more alluring characters of raisins, nuts, caramel, and chocolate...similar to those Cadbury bars with the nuts and raisins. Very delicious.
Mouthfeel is slightly fizzy, semi-dry, sweet, medium/full bodied.
Overall, a well done brew by Stoudt’s. I hope to see more like this from the gang in Adamstown.

2008 Bottle...thanks for egajdzis for sharing this bottle. Pours a deep black with ruby red notes and a medium creamy/bubbly deep tan head that left some lacing. Aroma of vanilla, light oak, chocolate, light alcohol, some hops, orange notes, nuts, light whisky notes and some roasted malts. Flavor was a mix of the same, some more whisky and vanilla notes.. A little thinner than the 2007 bottle. Numbers stay the same as the 07 bottle.
Poured an opaque black color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla, oak, chocolate, roasted malts, with toffee, some lactose, and very faint bourbon. The bourbon, however was kept even further in the background in the taste. Roasty, chocolatey, oak, with vanilla bean, nougat, and light alcohol. Velvetty mouthfeel.
