COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A re-visitation of the original Stoudt’s German-style lager. This beautiful Dunkel dark style lager is reminiscent of the monk style bock beers. Very malty, full bodied, bottom fermented lager that might just incline you to search for a goblet to drink it from.

From old tasting notes. Mahogany brown color with reddish hues. Bubbly tan head. Toasted malt aroma with a hint of black currants. Tart sour hop flavor. Toasted malt that becomes lactic. Interesting flavor hints more toward Belgian roots then German. Long lingering malty finish and aftertaste.

Bottle pours a dark mostly clear nut brown. Faint malty nose. Smooth yet somewhat flat taste. Malty and nutty. Not much sweet or bready flavors here. Above average brown beer. Not much else to see here.

A good bock with caramel and thick breasy quality. Borderline double bock. Good for a bock just the style tends to be a little overwhelming for me.

Tap at Kloby’s. pours clear tawny with a small, fizzy and bubbly off-white head, short retention with light, sticky lacing. Aroma is German melanoidin malt dominant with dates and figs, light alcohol notes, spicy Noble hops and a clean lager character. Flavor is sweet German malt with light spicy hops and medium-light bitterness, somewhat accentuated by the alcohol notes, dark fruit notes and a sweet finish. Medium-full body and light carbonation.

Surprising malty sweetness. Would have liked a bit more hops. Little lacing with chestnut color. A bit watery. It was okay.

Pours a clear caramel color with a medium tan head. Aroma has light fruitiness, fig and rasin. Flavor is malty with caramley and lots of fruity notes...still fig and raisin. Mouthfeel is medium/full and silky with a malty/earthy finish.

Draft at Blue Dog. Pours hazy dark brown with ruby edges and off-khaki head. Nose is grainy corn flakey malt, yeasty brown sugar, mild figgy fruit. Tastes of corn flakes and caramel malt up front, with some earthy brown sugar and nutty and grainy notes later.

Dark color-reddish brown with no head. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel, and bread. Matching flavor with lots of dark fruit, caramel, and bread. Very nice!

From the tap poured a brown color with a good amount of head. Sweet malty light hoppy flavor with a lingering finish.

25oz bottle lurking in the back of the refrig for several months. Nice color, not much head. Nose more of hops than malt, not what I expected from a bock. Not as smooth as I expected. All in all, an OK bock. I guess. Maybe I was expecting a dopplebock kind of thing.
