Black pour and thick off white, very carbonated with light lacing .... Aroma of dark chocolate, vinous notes, oak, roasted malts and caramel malts.... Taste is of dark chocolate, cherries, vinous, dry oak, roasted malts and some bitter dry hops on the back end .... Mouthfeel is slick and oily ..... Finish is bitter dry and roasted.... Doesn’t touch the reg fat dog Homer321 (5207) - Melboring, Florida, USA - JUN 12, 2014
bottleshare thanks to Beechner224. Nose is grapey with some tannins. Minimal light brown head. Taste is initially slightly tart with a largely tannin overtone. Linda masks most of the stout character. Mostly chocolate otherwise. Ok but I’m not a fan of wine barrel stouts I guess DrewFace (970) - Melbourne, Florida, USA - JUN 12, 2014
Bottle share thanks to beechner224. Fairly dark brownish red color, translucent. Red wine, light roast, semi sweet, oaky aroma. Vinous, light roast, light chocolate, dry, dominated by red wine. beechner224 (1024) - Melbourne, Florida, USA - JUN 12, 2014
Bottle in trade, forget who. Pours a deep brown, red hue. Aroma is mix of chocolate roast and wine. Taste is smooth chocolate and wine. Pretty tasty, palate cleansing. Pretty yummy. vlan1 (220) - Austin, Texas, USA - FEB 14, 2014
Bottle poured into sniffer. Pours motor oil black with a thin tan quickly fading head. Aroma of roast coffee and faint berry notes. Tastes of roasty oatmeal coffee, oak notes, dark berry fruit with a tad bit of wine notes. Superbly smooth with incredible depth as it warms. Probably the best wine barrel aged beer I have had yet.

Stoudts Winey Dog is Stoudts Fat Dog Stout that is aged in wine barrels for fourteen months. It has all the characteristics of Fat Dog but is extremely smooth.

Thanks to Vlan1 for the bottle. Aroma is vinous barrel qualities, oak, some chocolate, red fruits. Nice. Pour is dark black. Flavor is fruity and chocolatey all the way. I like the balance of the barrel and the original beer. A winner. Chipalsa (1310) - Florida, USA - OCT 29, 2013
This was a good find, OmegaX. It poured a silky, deep brown body with a frothy little head. Aromas revealed chocolate covered cherries, strong oak and vanilla. It’s amazing how much dried fruit you taste while the stout character keeps the bitter in check. The carbonation was damn near perfect and complimented the dark chocolate finish quite nicely. Cheers!!!
