Firkin at Capones in Norristown, PA.
Pours pitch black with a very thin mocha colored head that quickly disappears. No lacing.
Silky chocolate malt aroma with vanilla bean, vanilla extract and subtle roast. Slightly artificial smelling with sweet chocolate, lactic cream, coffee bean, caramel, toffee and a very strong vanilla presence.
Thinner than expected with a silky vanilla presence that’s really strong overpowering the chocolate notes and malt profile a bit too much. Vanilla bean and French vanilla ice cream flavor along with silky dark chocolate, coffee bean and toast. Decent but a bit too sweet/artificial tasting, overshadowing everything that I like about the base beer. pushkinwow (2827) - Ottawa, CANADA - DEC 31, 2013
On tap at the 2013 Capones Black Friday event. Dark mahogany with a creamy tan head. Vanilla, roasted malts, some caramelized brown sugar and bittersweet chocolate shavings. Mild carbonation and moderate body, smooth, slight bitterness but then becomes more sweet, enjoyable. Theydon_Bois (19718) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - DEC 13, 2013
Gravity dispense at Capones, Norristown PA, Black Friday bash 29/11/13.
Mid black with a good sized tan covering.
Nose is rich roast, cocoa, vanilla bean, brown sugars, dark toffee fudge.
Taste comprises roast malt, light booze, rich cocoa, vanilla essence, chocolate gateaux.
Medium bodied with oomph, smooth on the palate, luxurious chocolate decadence in the closure with a little booze, perhaps a little harsh on this aspect.
Decent impy affair regardless. ROGUE (2215) - Lewes, Delaware, USA - AUG 22, 2013

From the firkin at Capone's in Norristown, PA. This may be the single best stout I have tried to date, with the possible exception of Southern Tier Choklat. Could've been the firkin. The vanilla flavor and aroma came through so nicely. If you have the opportunity, try this.

Pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma has roasty cocoa and soft sweet vanilla. Flavor is bold and roasty with a burnt note as well as dark chocolate and sweet vanilla. Mouthfeel is light and the finish is burnt vanilla. DocLock (10721) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 1, 2012
I believe this is the 2nd rating from Stoudt’s for me that caps off yet another C-Note of ratings (6,400 now). Draft at Capone’s. Pours thick deep black with tan head. Nose is roasty dark malt, cacao, vanilla, mild hops. Tasted on the sweet side, with an assertive vanilla bean component that matched well with the dark malts and cacao flavors. I’d call this a hefty dessert beer. hopdog (12673) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 27, 2012
Firkin at Capone’s. Poured a dark black color with no head. Aromas of vanilla, roast, chocolate, and some coffee. Tastes of vanilla beans, roast, coffee, and marshmallows. Vanilla present and very nice. PhillyCraft (7351) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2012
On draft, one of the sleepers of the Black Friday event for me. Poured a flattish black with zero head and no lacing. Aromas of coconut, marshmallow, and smooth roasted coffee. Full bodied. I am not a fan of firkins so this was way too flat for me, If it was carbonated it would be an easy 4.5 in my book. Macegan75 (846) - Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2012
