3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On draft @ Stoudts. Pours a beautiful auburn caramel color with a fingers worth of head that quickly fades to a lacy ring Sweet bread smell with a hint of hops on the nose. Smooth malty toffee taste with again a faint hop presence in the aftertaste. Not the best barleywine I have had. But certainly nowhere near the worst. Good stuff.
Pours whiskey colored with a barley, whiskey and vanilla taste with some wood and plenty of alcohol. BeerdedDave (2005) - Beckley, USA - JAN 1, 2018
on tap at the brewery; nice clear, red color; semi sweet caramel malt aroma; bready, caramel malt flavor; a bit sweet koleminer20 (4171) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - FEB 6, 2017
From notes. Enjoyed at the 4th Annual Barleywine Tasting at Nicole’s house on January 28. 750 mL bottle. We just know that this is older than 2014. The pour is a dirty reddish orange color with a thin and fizzy white head that vanishes quickly. The aroma is really messy. There is a light caramel and some malt, but it’s just boozy and bitter. There is a strong leafy hop on the back end that I don’t care for. The flavor has more of a fruity thing happening that doesn’t work. The caramel and light maltiness really fade with the hops and this is a disaster. The mouth feel is light and watery with a fizzier carbonation and a lingeringly bitter finish. No thanks. ebone1988 (2232) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - JAN 28, 2017
At the Barleywine event. Aroma is hops, caramel, toffee, booze, eh. Appearance is amber orange, light tan head, haze. Taste is hops, booze, caramel, old, bad. Mouthfeel is medium mold, light carbonation, nutty booze aftertaste. Overall, not good. stevoj (5869) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUN 14, 2015
Pretty unassuming for a barley wine, very subtle. Sweet malty aroma, pour is normal for the style, malty taste, little warmth.

(750ml bottle) cloudy deep orange, wispy tan bubbles. Nose is hoppy and sweet, candied hops, cream, lactose, funky, moss, yogurt. Taste is quite sweet, honey, light pine, unbalanced towards sweet, almost no carb. OldMrCrow (2446) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 11, 2013

I’m a bit of a moron for leaving this one in the cellar for so long. Relatively dark pour, decent head given the age. Cheese and wet cardboard nose of oxidized hops. Quite dry with a sort of lemon marmalade on burnt toast kind of thing. Really not very good.
750 ml shared with seb bought at winooski A: soft caramel, nutty App: hazy brown minimal white head. T/p: med body long bitter finish. Velvety texture O: OK but nothing exceptional.
